Women are known to be good managers both at home and in workplaces. That is the opinion of some people, myself included. Many people disagree though. But do women REALLY manage and handle money wisely than men? Putting into consideration all the trival accesories they buy just to look good?

it is a matter of the individual (despite the attempt at others to insult one gender or another). I have met both men and women who were good money managers, and those who were not too good at it.

A lot depends on how you define a good money manager. People can see that differently. I am taking it as having the bills paid, looking for a good price on purchases, and some $ in savings to cover at least one month expenses. Then there are investment bankers...we all aren't gonna be pros at it lol

Don't think there's really much difference. Stating that women buy trivial accessories and men don't, is biased. Plus, if you are a good manager, you know whether or not there's money to spend on 'trivial' things or not.

It's typical of women to have oversight and organize, it's typical of men to focus. I guess that's what would make women good at management and men at bookkeeping?

I don;t think you can generalize at all by gender. For any of those things.....I think you are right tho' that a lot of the discussion on spending where men & women disagree is where priorities are different. A man might criticize me for spending $25 on a mascara, but turn around and buy a 40K car that is way more expensive that what we really need or can afford....one is trivial....the other is a budget buster....I'm sure it could happen in reverse as wellwinking

not that I know any men who wear mascaras...lol:laughing:

I think it's a personality trait, not a gender trait. Circumstances, beliefs, income and expenditures will all dictate the way people manage their money. Save more, spend less...it's also a generational issues, as well. JMHO.

Good and bad money management has nothing to do with gender....There are countless elements involved making it impossible to qualify who does better and why...How we are raised, how we come by our money, needs, wants, experience(s), economy, maturity level, health, dependents, the list is endless!...Meg is exactly right...There are definitely certain traits that influence money management, but gender is not one of them....

I remember a comedian who talked about how in general women are better at communication and men are better at money management. But men are always the ones put in charge of talking on the phone and women are the ones put in charge of taking care of the money.

I personally doubt that gender has anything to do with how well someone manages money. That's just a stupid stereotype.

Its women. Men are more of misers, I don't call that management.

It stands to reason that to find inherent processing differences between generic male and female cognitive brains you'd have to deal with sexualized subject matters.

Of both men and women, not everyone thinks about everything with their genitals. As it also stands to reason then, those which firmly believe in perceptual and cognitive differences between generic male and female psychology, necessarily think with their genitals themselves, about everything all the time. Kind of like morons.

I Don't know about other women, but I was taught how to handle money from an early age.

My mom would always test us with how we spent our allowances and if we had anything left by the end of the month.

If you did.... She would take us out, her treat.

If we didn't... We could still go out but we would have to earn it, by doing additional chores which usually took most of the day!

I learned how to stretch money early!
