Why are older women who date younger men called Cougars,but older men with younger women are called dirty old men ?

Mmmm it may have something to do with, who asks whom out. In both cases, it can be the guy. I fell for a younger guy in spite of his age. Men seem to go for the young because of their age.

I'm of the opinion that if older men want to date younger girls, so be it; also, if older women want to date younger men, so be it. Ultimately each person will need to live with either the pleasure or consequences of their choices, so it's really no one else's business but THEIRS! JMHO

Why are older women who date younger men called Cougars,but older men with younger women are called dirty old men ? I think the whole cougar thing got started as a kind of payback to men who were leaving relationships and marriages with women their own age to pursue younger women for superficial reasons that stroked their ego...Meaning arm candy, virility, etc ...When well known celebs like Cher, Madonna, and Demi started getting press for snagging hot, younger men the term Cougar was coined and stuck... The expression "Dirty Old Men" was probably started by ugly old women who lost their guys to young beautiful hotties when they stopped taking care of themselves....

I usually have a four year rule myself. Recently though I have been getting a lot of attention from women in their early to mid twenties. One in particular has been coming on to me pretty strongly. I have to admit its making me second guess my own thoughts. Does that make me a dirty old man? Granted I am in only nearing my mid thirties but still. I don't think its a name to be ashamed of. Some may say I have a dirty mind I prefer to think I just have a sexy imagination.

It's not fair, it's a double standard, but at least it's a double standard that's in my favor for a change...lol dat's me story and Ima stickin' to it :)

I know this from experience. I'm a dirty old man and I know many cougars. Cougars date young guy just for sex. They have no clue on how to connect or have fun on a date. dirty old men on the other hand 1st and foremost want to have fun. Sure the cougar takes her toy out but it's to show what she's taking home. Dirty old men take the girls out, lots of times it's 1-4 girls on a date for a good time, no sex is implied. He's not proving anything to anybody, just having a good time with hottie girls. I'm 53 in the last 10yrs I've dated 5 women over 30, 1 lasted a yr the others were a couple weeks. I've dated LOTS of girls under 30 mostly 18-25. I still talk to most of them. I spent New Years with a girl just turned 26. I've known her for about 10yrs. You know what they ask me out!!!! the sex would make porn stars blush. So many guys have said they are jealous of me and ask how I do it. I say "I'm just out for fun" The girls know they are always safe with me. NO means NO and let me call some of my friends over means Woo Hoo. Next time you're out look at the cougar They got issues look at the dirty old man with the girl (not the creeps looking at girls) look hard you'll see they both are genuinely laughing and having a good time. The reason I'm here I want to find a woman my age range

A cougar is a women with money who wants a young sexy man for arm candy and sex. She makes it worth his while. A dirty old man can be either rich or not. He has little respect for women of any age. Not all older sexy women are cougars and not all older men are dirty old men.

Over here the female equivalent of a "dirty old man" is an "old slapper". It's basically a term of abuse. I guess that "cougar" is the female equivalent of what they called "wolfs", or "alley cats" in the old movies, although that didn't seem to be so much about age and more about just not being ready to settle down yet.
