What would u do if u met a person on this dating site (Mingle2) and he is in the Navy, he is getting a bonus leave check from the military and he wants u to open a bank account for him with your own personal information. Remember u guys never went on a date, never spoke on the phone, but u have been messaging him on here or yahoo messenger. He wants u to open a Wells Fargo bank account for him but with your information so that he can put the money in the account. What would u do, open the account for him or not???? Please let me know what u would do if it was u.

Danger! Danger! This is a scam.

A Navy guy is capable of opening his own account with his own personal information.

Oh and he said that he does not have any family, and I'm his only family so I must open an account for him. And that they can't withdraw money or put money in their accounts there, and they get free food and everything they don't have to pay for anything. He is in Africa and can't call or look up wells fargo bank. That he is an only child and his parents are both died.

ya uh huh.... how many American Naval bases are in Africa?? (I'm assuming he means Africa proper and not the Middle East)...you might want to report him to the cybercrimes unit....sounds like a little more serious than someone lying about their age or weight...block him NOW from further communication if you have not already.

Unfortunately on here you have to skeptical of any guy who says he's active duty, especially if he says he's out of the country. Most are scammers.

The scam you are describing is actually an old one that's been around for a few years now.

We have one. But still,i'll mantain,he's stupid!

He can very well open an account online, they have access to internet too! And,they DO make calls-even international / long distance calls!!

Run!
Run!
Ruuuun!!

And the navy would give him a bonus leave check in his hands whilst being in Africa with no option to open a bank account?
Take some distance, turn down the volume of your emotions and look at this situation again with a slightly more objective view.
Read your OP and read it as if I posted this, asking you advice. What would you tell me?

You really got suckered in, get out, now!

And remember 9.99999999999999999999% of military men on Mingle are ALL scammers!!

first, I don't understand the point. If you open an account at wells fargo, its your account. Unless he has access to a card, or checks, or login info, or a pin, he cant really do much with it.

If he is in the navy, there are banks on bas that cater to the soldiers, so why cant he open his own account? I wouldn't worry about opening up an account. Go for it. But I wouldn't share any account or financial info with this person.

Why when everyone else is saying this is a scam are you telling this person to go for it?

A Navy guy is capable of opening his own account with his own personal information.

While many American Foster Children and Orphans do go into the Military the Military DOES NOT and I REPEAT DOES NOT pay in cash and a NAVY paycheck with a valid military ID that EVERY legitimate person would have can be cashed on ANY installation or ANY major banking institution without fees.

THIS GUY IS A SCAMMER. Give him NO INFORMATION.

If you would like you can report this Scammer to Naval Intelligence as they take it very personal that someone is impersonateing any military member.

The scammers always say this! You are their ONLY hope. He has NO ONE in his family or his life that can help him!
I know it all sounds so wonderful - all of the wonderful things he has said to you. He has touched your heart and made you feel loved again.
Now STOP and really think about this. No matter what he has said and how many wonderful conversations you have had over the internet, you do NOT know HIM, you only know the lies he has told you. Anyone who really is starting to care about you will NOT ask for money, that's what their closest friends are for.
Report him for sure to save the next victim. Tell him to sod off. Block him!
You deserve so much more than this. You deserve someone real and someone honest. I wish you the very best in your life. Stand up for yourself now, when it really counts. flowerforyou

Well I really hate to break this to you, but it's happened to me, however, I did not fall for it; they do come back as a different person and they actually may want to target you again. You have to be very insightful to know it's them again. JMHO flowerforyou

I have had someone ask me to open up an acct for them and give them the information so they can put money in my account. I knew it was a scam so of course I was not going to open up an account and give anyone any type of information.
When they say something about things like this, report them and block them!!!

Well Mocha, this isn't my first rodeo as they say! teehee!

When something sounds too good to be true, it usually is = too good to be true.

You have been blessed with some awesome advice on this thread and this will probably happen again. It's happened to many of us a few times each!

I must share with you that I am very much loved by several young men in the army and in the navy and overseas! It becomes quite funny when you think about it! Bottom line - you need to be suspicious of these guys who'll tell you anything and everything without even getting to know you in person! Re-read the advice given in this thread and don't hesitate to reach out again. We all try to keep each other safe and amused I may add!
