Few days back,i purposely asked my younger brother how often he washes his towel and the reply he threw back at me kept me wondering. If truely,we keep our body clean by bathing with good soap and clean water, what then makes the towel dirty?

I'm thinking maybe the dead skin we rub off on the towel when drying? Having said that... I do change my towel every other shower so it doesn't hang there more than a couple days.

I have a new towel every other shower. Honestly I could keep the same towel for 5 days. It wouldn't matter, it's my body skin & the clean body is touching it. So who really cares.

I agree , As long as no one elses my towel to dry their body . I guess it is good hygiene to change the towel after two or three uses.

Yeah, change after two showers...it makes the towel feel loved.

lol,, I love this topic

the repeated moistness and drying of the towel creates moldiness, in my opinion, pretty quickly

I agree with those who say it should be refreshed at least every couple of showers/baths

I don't take baths anymore. laugh

That bath water has dirt in it that one has washed off. No matter what one does a small amount of that used water can stay on the skin.

That's why I shower.

Rubbing the skin with a towel causes the skin's oil glands to produce oil which contains natural skin bacteria. Depending upon the location, frequency of bathing, types of soaps and water quality used, skin cells are constantly shed. Mold does not grow in the time it usually takes to dry a towel. Mold will grow if the towel is wadded up such that it cannot dry within a reasonable time or if the relative humidity is extremely high.

clean towel after every shower in this household...makes for a lot of laundry ....but with 3 adults and one teenager, it all gets done
