And she wondered about that quiet guy at work. Was he thinking of the possibilities? What if they said more than just hi at the coffee machine? Did he notice she never drank coffee before? He did linger by her desk listening to that in sufferable supervisor drone on and on. Who would be in the next round of layoffs? What about.....

She froze as her heart raced frantically... |

Who was behind it? |

His eyes focused on you he screams, "I am Rakyatan!!" |

What the Hell is going on? |

Amazed that he would think anyone could possibly explain this (an escape to the nearest ladies room crossed her mind), she shook off the dust and the shock. Her lips simply could not form words to speak.
Someone else was speaking somewhere. Was it that Raky-something guy? What was it he said his name was? The guy from the coffee machine was leaning in and offerring his hand. But why? Did they need to go somewhere? She took his hand, and tried again to speak, but nothing; no words formed. She didn't know what to say. The stick man was watching them and leading the way. Why were they following? Did she trust this? She started to pull away from the coffee machine guy, but then they both heard someone else speaking....somewhere. |

Her mind was still fuzzy. But she was starting to focus a little.
Well, come on you two. There are more people to collect. It was the Raky-something guy that was talking to her. His squeaky little voice matched the stick-thinness of his body and his diminutive size. How elf like he looked in those long robes. But those glowing red eyes, they seemed out of place for an elf. Derrick, the one she pined for from work grabbed her hand and they both followed Rakyatan. Mindlessly it seemed. Sorry I didn't have time to bring you a cup of coffee he somewhat laughingly said to her as they moved through the darkness that was lit only by a large crystal atop the stick that Rakyatan carried. It seemed quite a contrast from all the brightness only moments ago and the farther they got from the farm house, the darker into the night it seemed that they fled. How did you find my farmhouse? And why are you here with this little man? Shush!!! Rakytan shouted. There is no time we must collect the others. Derrick, shrugged his shoulders but squeezed her hand to reassure her. This is crazy she thought. But somehow just holding his hand she felt safe and would follow him anywhere. Even with the odd little man. I hope this is just a dream she thought. Maybe like a fairy tale. Did I watch something on tv tonight or something? |

Or was it that pretty locket she found in her Grandmother's jewelry box that mesmerized her just a few days ago in the barn? |

At that thought her hand reached to her throat where her fingers trailed along the chain to the locket. Well if there's nothing left to the farm house, atleast I have grandmom's locket.
Had she pulled the locket out from beneath her heavy sweater she would have noticed that the locket seemed to glow faintly as her fingers touched it. But when she let go it stopped glowing. |

When Rakayatan reached them, he stopped and said, follow us to El Torgo the time has come we must collect the others. Derrick was becoming concerned and asked again, What is going on Rakayan? The question was left unanswered and our small group continued on in to the darkness which was only illuminated by the erie glow of Rakayatan's crystal topped staff.
Where were they going she wondered, and who were these others. Then she looked at that strange poodle like animal with red eyes and a cold shiver ran down her spine, she thought of the ladies room again, but holding Derricks hand tightly she new she was safe. The silence was soon broken. Rakayatan shouted, Come on! Hurry up! We must reach their before light! |

Where's there? and God I hope they have food...
she pondered briefly the truth that ones life can completely change in an instant. The Germans call it an Augenblick. Literally, the blink of an eye. They have a way with language that can be very unsettling in Teutonic fashion. There was no time left for these musings though because the coffee machine guy had caught up to her again, grabbed her hand and started running. There was a train and they could not be late. She briefly thought of the white rabbit and even glanced down as though she had a watch and waistcoat. |
|

|
They arrived on the platform just as dawn broke, and soon they were all climbing aboard the train. Once onboard she looked round and the train was empty, strange no one aboard she thought, but her tummy rumbled and she thought again of food, even a railway pork pie would be nice.
What is going on Rakayatan asked Derrick the coffee machine guy, but it fell on deaf ears, there was no reply. Just as the the train started to move, Rakayatan said, we are here to meet the others, then into the carriage came three very strange creatures. Their appearance was similar to Rakayatan but without a staff, it was clear that Rakayatan was headman. He then spoke to them in a strange language, it wasn't German, not sure what it could be but they left and quickly returned with a Mcdonalds' carry out. The poodle animal's eyes glowed a brighter red, so a double burger was quickly tossed towards it, which it ate in an instant. Soon they had all finished eating, and Derrick passed her a cup of coffee, which brought back the memories of the day before and her hand trembled, but she was glad he was here, and for the coffee. Then Rakayatan stood up, banged down his staff to attract attention and said, The journey has begun, this train will take us to where we should be able to discover whom is behind these events, and with the help of these others, thwart the plot. She was stunned. What plot and where were they going? |
