I think of it as being like looking back on your schooldays. A lot of the time it felt like it was bloody awful and not where I wanted to be but they still say that those are the best days of your life.

I decided to contact an ex girlfriend again after five years because I missed her. Other reasons too I guess but I got my best friend back and I proved that I didn't just want her for sex.

Sex isn't really the main thing that I miss when I haven't got a girlfriend, even if I do really like sex and do see that sort of intimacy as something that bonds you to another person in a way that nothing else can.

When I contacted my ex again it was just after another relationship hadn't worked out and I was feeling a bit sorry for myself. I tried talking to my family and to other people but none of them were very understanding or cared apart from my mother. I needed a friend to talk to that would understand. Now that I have my ex back in my life I've got that person that I can talk to about anything and she does know me pretty well, even if I still have to put her straight sometimes about how I felt about her then and feel about her now. Can't really say that I've had that level of communication with any woman since but she's right when she says that it takes years to get to know somebody properly.

Yeah, that's what I miss. It's building a relationship with someone and just getting to know them. Talking is part of that and so is making love.

I miss cooking food. I do not like to cook food for myself. Hate there is not one to take care of.

Going to sleep and waking up next to someone. Having no partner to plan the future with and goals. Seems a bit hollow to have goals for yourself and it's nice to have someone there.
