Kupra that might not be a picture of my face but i sure know its my arm. I have spoken to people on this site with pictures of faces which turned out to be someone else. I know that a face peeks a persons interest but as you say on the internet are the faces you are seeing the real person you are talking to? If i were a good liar i would have a picture of a model on my page saying thats me... I dont have a problem showing a picture of my face but i sure find that there are people that are curious about an arm. and those people actually do get the oppertunity to see my face. Who knows if that picture you have up is really you? Go look at my profile...I am only allowed 18 pictures of me...If I had my way...I would have 800 pictures of me....I am arrogant that way. Anyway...everyone lies...men,women,kids...chameleons (they ain't that colour) It is just part of life. |

When I was a kid I was belted by a teacher for refusing to own up to some stupid thing that a couple of friends and I had done. I was told that I wouldn't be punished if I just owned up to it and both of my friends had but I was stubborn and wouldn't. Another time I made up a story about how I had had a fight with some kid that hassled me and my cousin and I told this lie in front of my cousin, who refuted it.
These were childish things that I did and I learned something about myself. I guess that I didn't like myself very much, or I'm not as great a person in reality as I am in my own mind. Telling falsehoods is self defeating in a way but the paradox is that a liar is a self loathing egoist. Once you stop believing your own lies and accept yourself for what you are you become honest but it can take years. Honesty is not always the best policy but if you are able to give up trying to be a good man you can just tell the truth about yourself and about others. Honour consists in not caring what anybody thinks about you. |

@ Kupra :I know it is a part of life. It has been around since the beginning of time, and will forever be around. I think every one has a touch of arrogance it just depends on how you rub them. lol. but i was hoping you could give me some insight of why you guys shy away from discussing that topic with women. |

Its a very common question among women, and there are many different reason that have been given. So i would really love to hear from the guys themselves as they often tend to shy away from this question. the better question is "why do men do______?" the only answer is: to get laid... |

we dont know why but we love women That's the main one |

I never had any problem answering any question with in reason. Somethings i will not answer unless i feel like i know you. Im a mystery to most people, and that's because I don't open up to everybody about my life. It keeps people interested by giving them a challenge. especially when you're straight up front type of person. That alone leaves no room for lise

Go look at my profile...I am only allowed 18 pictures of me...If I had my way...I would have 800 pictures of me....I am arrogant that way. More than 1-2 pictures does help though. I think even honest ppl avoid telling the truth / lie on occasion. It takes trust and time to open up. We all got 'things' we rather not want someone else to know (straight away). So what do you do when someone asks you directly about such a thing? Being open and honest too soon can also have the other person pull back. I met this one guy who was nice, but totally different from I had expected, based on the messages sent. I asked him something about his kids and he told me he had kids from three different wives. So he was honest about that, but it got me thinking "THREE wives?? What's h*ck is wrong with him???" Next time he might lie about it as he's experienced being open didn't help his case. Another one I met, real decent bloke, serious, caring, the lot. Could've been THE guy, but I didn't feel a click. Then he mentioned something like "When we move in together we can ... " a couple of times. Moving in together? MOVING IN?!?! mummy!!! ( Mind you, I'd only met him 2, 3 hours earlier.) So he was open about the way he was feeling, freaked me out, lol. Now these both were nice men, but if being open and honest doesn't get them anywhere, they might start avoiding the truth. |

I think its a bit unfair to tar all guys with the same brush. Everyone lies, unless your mother Theresa!
It realy just depends on the magnitude of the lie. Someone might lie about eating someones Snickers bar which is not important, but to lie about relationships is a completely different ball game. |

To be frank here men lies a lot more to girls reason because ladies dnt like to here honest tinz.

@Krupa - I do agree with the picture thing. I dont understand why people dont post pictures of themselves - if someone doesnt like what they see, then it can only benefit the person that posts the picture, given that theyre obviously shallow.
If the picture isnt of the person, but someone else, just cut them out. When someone cant post their own picture its like they are ashamed to admit who they are - they shouldnt be. You are what you are, and if someone doesnt like it they arent worth talking to. |

I normally only lie if I think it is for the best, like for example when I think the other person won`t understand. I never lie to trick people.

I dont know any lie greater than lies of make-ups

We all lie...all of us. Look at the picture of the person who posted the question.... Is that an arm or a leg or a belly? It ain't a picture of thier face...it is a misdirection ...it ain't who they are. To me...that is a lie. But, this is the Internet....most people lie...just like people who gripe about truth and honesty....don't actually show thier faces. Don't believe me?....go look in the religion threads....a bunch of honest people....who refuse to show their faces. Soooooo true! |

Oh geez...
The question is a poor one. The answers to it are as diverse as the circumstances in which one lies. At the root of it all however lies a commonality which krupa pointed towards earlier... All folk, including but not limited to "men", lie in order to get what they want, so to speak. That said, there is an underlying issue pervading this thread. That being that there are many different notions of what "a lie" actually is. To me, it makes the most sense to say... A lie is a deliberate misrepresentation of one's own thought/belief. |
