Topic: Cut or Uncut?

If you have a big cedar tree, is it better to let it grow out naturally and battle the lower branches or cut the lower branches about four feet high to expose the trunk so it's easier to mow around?

Not that I'm into tree trimming just think they look better if trimmed towards the bottom...
