Was that any worse than Latrell Sprewell(basketball player) turning down a $14 Million PER YEAR contract, saying he couldn't feed his family on that? Of course, NBA stars ARE known as quite the babymakers, so there might be some truth to what he saidlaugh .

Yeah knox, and that's
why the Wolves dumped Sprewell.

They didn't need whiners
on the team, which Sprewell was.

knoxman,

I'm not a big fan of the rush to judgement. Many people feel that the police officer was being overly forceful. The officer told the Senator that if he pled guilty, the matter would never hit the news. Senator Craig is now claiming that he only pled guilty to avoid media attention. I think we should at least listen to what he has to say. I don't believe that we should rush to judge anyone and when they are guilty, we should keep their crimes in perspective.

BayAreaGal / Knoxman,

Tony Snow is terminal with cancer, he wants to make as much money as he can before he dies, so that his family is more financially stable. He is entering the speaking circuit and can make easily 10x his current salary in a year. How can you fault a dying man who wants to take care of his family? Or did you just not take the time to find out the whole story?

Not faulting him, Spidey. Don't take everything so seriously.

Actually, I like Snow and am sorry to see him go. He was an improvement over the last few press secretaries. I wish him the best. Please re-read my previous posts in the proper context.

As for Craig:

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, waddles like a duck, and swims like a duck, well, you know the rest........

Spidercmb - Yea, please don't be so serious or so literal about every post you read from us.

Hmm...me thinks I should refrain from posting in this forum for a while. laugh

See ya in the "tv trivia" thread, Knox! laugh flowerforyou

Knoxman,

"If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, waddles like a duck, and swims like a duck, well, you know the rest........ "

People said basically the same thing about Richard Jewell. "Look, this freak still lives with his mother, he must be the bomber!"

Let's see... the Senator is being charged with tapping his foot and rubbing his hand at the underside of the stall. He denied the charges in an interview immediately following the incident. The officer implied that the only way to avoid media attention was for the senator to plead guilty. Senator Craig isn't as obviously guilty as you imply. As someone pointed out earlier, a democrat congressman was found with 100k in brib money in his freezer and he is still serving, so why should Craig get pillaried for the alleged desire to have a consenual adult homosexual relationship? Aren't we constantly being told that it's okay to be gay?

BayAreaGal,

I can see how knoxman was joking, but let me remind you of your post...

"Was Snow joking? I seriously cannot believe he said he took a paycut to join Bush and that he's leaving because he can't support his family on 168K/year.

WhatEVER!! "

Please let me know wherein the joke lies, so that I can laugh with you.

You didn't think it was a bit much for him to say that can't support a family on 168K a year?

Umm...ok.

Anyway, I meant nothing by it, nor was I making light of his health and current situation.

Spidercmb:

Earlier, you attempted to compare Sen. Craig to Richard Jewell as far as people being accused wrongly. In doing so, you have proved that you're WAY off base here. There quite simply is no comparing the two. Jewell was accused of something ONCE--that's it. Craig has a well-known history of incidents similar to the one he was convicted of.

And, if he was truly innocent, there's no way in Hell he would've plead guilty. It wasn't staying hidden anyway, so what's the point? Once again, if it walks, talks, and looks like a duck, guess what?

Oh, and for the comment of "If he was a Democrat, nothing would be said". Read your newspapers and watch the news, Spidey, and try to rely on something other than Fox News and Rush for your info. If you did, you'd know that the big outcry for Craig's head on a platter is coming from members of HIS OWN PARTY!

No, he doesn't. This is the first time this has happened.

"And, if he was truly innocent, there's no way in Hell he would've plead guilty. It wasn't staying hidden anyway, so what's the point? Once again, if it walks, talks, and looks like a duck, guess what? "

Unless he was scared and believed the cop.

You are so off base here...I didn't say "If he was a Democrat, nothing would be said", maybe someone else did. I don't just watch Fox News and I know it was the Republicans who threw him under the bus. I'm not sure where you were going with this, I think you might have confused someone elses comments for my own.

Check his history, Spider. Even fellow Republican Senators have been talking about his past indescrections.

He plead guilyt. Did he think it wouln't come out? He's a SENATOR, for cryin' out loud! If an elected official BREATHES wrong, it's all over the papers. Considering the legal teams he had access to, if he was ANYWHERE near innocent, he could've wiped the floor with those charges. His ONLY possible reason for the guilty plea was the fear of what ELSE may have came out about him during a trial.

As for your last statement, I'll admit when I was wrong. I thought you posted that. Sorry about that. I stand corrected.drinker

Damn this thing just won't go away will it, I see by the paper this moring that Senator Craig may not resign after all. I wish we could go back to DC and throw the whole damn bunch out into the street and start over with fresh faces, but I don't think a new group would be any more honest or ethical than the ones that are in there now.

From CRUISING WHILE REPUBLICAN by Ann Coulter
...
Assuming the worst about Craig, the Senate has not held a vote on outlawing homosexual impulses. It voted on gay marriage. Craig not only opposes gay marriage, he's in a heterosexual marriage with kids. Talk about walking the walk!

Did Craig propose marriage to the undercover cop? If not, I'm not seeing the "hypocrisy."

...

Liberals have no idea what they think about homosexuality, which is why their arguments are completely contradictory. They gay-bait Republicans with abandon -- and then turn around and complain about homophobia.

They call Larry Craig a "deviant" based on accusations that he attempted to solicit sex in a public bathroom -– and then ferociously attack efforts to prevent people from having sex in public bathrooms.

They say people are born gay -- and then they say it's the celibacy requirement that turns Catholic priests gay.

They tell us gays want nothing more than to get married -- and then say it's homophobic to oppose homosexual sex in public bathrooms.

you're right i shouldn't have called him a hypocrite. even if he was soliciting homosexual sex from the other stall it has nothing to do with his vote on gay marriage. i apologize to mr. craig.

Spidey's blaming liberals again.

Spidey:

Check your sources. The biggest outcry for Craig's head is coming from his OWN PARTY!!!!!

Ann Coulter is the biggest liar in U.S. history. Don't put much faith in her lies, and you'll be better off for it, OK?
