Watched this last night. More thought provoking than I expected based on the formulaic "alien invasion" premiss that I gleaned from the adds. Who are the real alien invaders, them or us?

Me too, I'm a sucker for scifi, and this is one of the better modern scifi movies.

Hmmm the last movie I watched was lars and the real girl ..about a dysfunctional man who buys a life size doll for a girlfriend ....and as is always the way when you are not looking for love .. Love finds you. yes ..he meets a real girl and has to choose which one to keep .....funny , kinda sad and a little bit different :-)

I've seen that one too. I liked the quirkiness, and the back story of why Lars was uncomfortable around real women and how family and town folk supported him to come out of his shell.

I saw Escape Plan with Stallone and Schwarzenegger a couple of days ago. I wasn't impressed. Very formulaic and over exaggerated.

I can't watch anything with Stallone in it anymore ..the close ups are dreadful

Yeah he's past the rugged phase and moved right into the Clint Eastwood phase.

It's about a couple in the throes of passion when their toddler climbs out of the cot and falls to its death from their apartment window . He is a psychiologist and The movie is about them trying to rebuild their shattered life . As part of the therapy They take off to a cabin in the woods and from there the movie gets totally bizzare... You should watch it and tell me what you think.

I just watched a trailer for it, it looks bizarre. While that's not typically the type flick I dig I like some of Dafoe's older work, maybe I'll check it out.

I have wide tastes when it comes to movies but I like ones which shock or make me think. There are several shocking parts in this movie but the most profound is to do with the baby ..which unfold through flashbacks ..I won't spoil it for you. .apparently the movie was supposed to be banned when it first came out .

I like to think my cinematic taste is eclectic too. An unexpected twist is always fun. Thought provoking stories are usually my favorites. As of late I've been enjoying Indie type films with unique quirky characters and meaningful messages. I'll definitely check out Antichrist. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

If you haven't seen it yet, check out Melancholia, it's from the same director, it's part of his "Depression Trilogy": Antichrist, Melancholia, and Nymphomaniac (Vols. I and II).

I watched 'The Sessions' recently. This film is based on the real life story of a man in his late 30's who contracted polio as a child and has spent most of his life confined to an iron lung. He decides that he wants to explore sexuality and hires a sex surrogate to help him. It's a touching, humorous, and inspirational story, I recommend it.

Laughing ..yes I am talking to you . This movie came out in 2010 and won a foreign film award. Hilarious, bizarre, thought provoking , dark and tragic.., with a twist of pornography ..laughing

Dark, tragic, pornography sounds similar to another film that was recommended to me recently, intriguing. spock I'll keep it in mind the next time I'm looking for something to watch. BTW sorry I forgot to include my recipe for curry chicken with my critique, maybe next time. winking
