The Internet opens up the world-wide-web to you,
opportunities everywhere.

Wise?
Yes, if you learn as you go.
Listen to other's stories.
Caution rules :-)

Being able to socialize with total strangers from all over the world is exciting. We are in the age of the web, suddenly the world got a lot smaller.

I agree with Whosane. Social sites are great for connecting and reconnecting if you do it safely. It has really given me the opportunity to meet lots of fascinating people whom I probably never would have met! drinks shades

Knowing that it's sometimes better than being in a relationship with a real person. Lol.
Don't have to deal with the drama.
I can come and go as I please without having to please anybody.
happy

the big surprise for me is its abillity to bridge differences
in people and cultures to build on common ground.

whereas we just miss each other otherwise, just based on visual
differences, more so in dress and image than in color.

its starts with one thing in common and that is we're both on the
site.think

^ Agreed. Good thing about Mingle2 is that it has public forums where you can actually socially network. Not just pm based, shyer more conservative people can get to know more about others without the need to contact directly and ask a bunch of questions. So you may be getting observed (or stalked) by potential interest without knowing. It may lead to someone confidently contacting you based on their silent research.

I'm often mistaken for a mutant poodle. I don't get it.

You also find that people do speak more freely online than in person. You get shy people who feel more confident expressing themselves via online platforms, where in person they don't have such courage.
