I have not seen the movie and won't. First i do not like Tom Cruise in anything and if you have rad the books Jack Reacher is 6'4" 240lbs blond hair with a 40" waist and a 52" chest. Is Tom Cruise even 52" tall?

There are so many other actors that coold have done justice, Tom Selleck, Dennis Quaid the guy who did Transporter. Obviously the casting director never read the books.

I didn't even know it was based on a book. Loved the movie, indeed well worth watching. The problem, having read a book first, is that you have created an image in your head. I never like to watch a movie when I've read the book. Almost always disappointing

Well Tom Cruise is the producer of the movie, so I'm sure that's how he got the part. I complained about the same thing before watching it. He tries too hard to pull off the role and the movie doesn't really follow the book at all, but it was ok.

Actually it is a series of books written by Lee Child, I think there are about 15 of them. There is no assumption as to what Jack Reacher looks like when it comes to size. He is 6'5" over 240lbs with blondish hair and a 52" chest and 40" waist. He is a former MP Major in the Army and lives completely off the grid. No car, house, credit cards. Travels by bus or hitch hikes. Throws away cloths every 3 or for days and buys new from Goodwill and other like places.

He isn't a small person in size or character. In my opinion Tom Cruise is both.

I did not know he was the producer. I haven't heard anything about what Lee Child thinks. Of course when you sell the rights you have to be careful and retain some control. That is what J.K. Rowles did with Harry Potter. I can't remember when a casting was so perfect in so many characters.

I am not especially fond of Tom Cruise, nor do I dislike him, he is just an actor/director. I liked the movie very much, regardless of what Jack Reacher is "supposed" to look like. I have never read the series of books, so that fact was lost on me. Actually, it was quite surprising, and refreshing, to see a tiny little guy disarm 5 big ol' boys so handily.

I agree 100%! Altough I love Tom Cruz, he didnt fit the part. I was disapointed..

Should've got big Arnie, or Dolph Lundgren, into do that part, as Tom Cruise, was a bad choice!
