Racism in America.... Is the problem of racism a political or moral issue?

http://www.allaboutpopularissues.org/racism-in-america-faq.htm

both, people live by morals, people set political tones

therefore, morals are going to interject into political tones,,,

Didn't bother to read it did you? Says a lot

Here is how that commentary about racism ends:

Until we as a people learn to see each other through the eyes of God, we will never see one another without fear and prejudice. “Then Peter replied, ‘I see very clearly that God doesn't show partiality. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.’” ( Acts 10:34-35).

I may "choose" not to walk the streets of Harlem at night.

Not because I am predjudice, but because of the history aurrounding such events. If I were to do so it would be for one of two reasons...1. I am ignorant, 2. I'm looking for trouble! Either would be on me, not the people of Harlem!

Racism is a choice!

who said it wasn't?

what you described is logic, if you are in an area, whether it is suburban or rural that you KNOW To h ave crime, its logical to avoid it

Im not talking about judging geography based on available FACTS of that area

IM talking about judgment of PEOPLE.STRANGERS. .....based upon stereotypes,,,,especially judgements which affect their livelihood, their rights, or their life,,,,

I agree. Their are many minorities that I will stay away from.. Why? because all the hate crime laws can be turned around against me even if I am defending myself and has done nothing wrong.. All it takes is an outcry like this case and the authorities being pressured and go after me. I know a lot of people who feel the same way.. The Hate crime laws are ridiculous. A crime against anyone is a Hate crime but not in the world we live in.

Assuming you will confront racism makes every threat racist! That's bad judgment on your part!

That's the fuel of fools like Sharpton and jackson!

with respect

the facts don't really back up this concern,,,,

I don't know of a hate crime case that was so simplistic as someone just happened to defend themselves against one race or another,,,

I steer clear of people acting like fools, regardless of their race,,,and I defend myself because of their foolishness, regardless of their race

it would be hard to interject anything racial into my response were I ever unfortunate enough to be in that position,,,,although the facts indicate I am more likely to be sentenced to hard time if it ends in a white persons death,,,

thats nonsense

I don't assume I will confront racism or that I won't

I take situations as they come and make logical conclusions

but that has nothing to do with speaking up or acting out against it,,,,

Maybe that's because of your race.

Who or what race in this country can a person not be accused of a hate crime?

Crimes of hatred and prejudice—from lynchings to cross burnings to vandalism of synagogues—are a sad fact of American history, but the term “hate crime” did not enter the nation’s vocabulary until the 1980s, when emerging hate groups like the Skinheads launched a wave of bias-related crime. The FBI began investigating what we now call hate crimes as far back as World War I, when the Ku Klux Klan first attracted our attention. Today, we remain dedicated to working with state and local partners to prevent these crimes and to bring to justice those who commit them.

..seems to me that the impending element is 'bias', which isn't so easily proven in every random act of 'self defense'

http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/investigate/civilrights/hate_crimes

also, has Zimmerman been charged with a hate crime?

no.. but does not mean they did not try to get this to happen and I believe he is a minority also.

It offends me when people on TV will report CRACKER and its ok. How many journalists have been fired for using the N word. I hate both slangs.

But back to the Zimmerman trial and away from this bunny trail.

Our system of justice hopefully will come out what happened.

What my Beef is , is ADULTS using a KID to promote hatred ,to confuse public opinion with their own agenda. I am not blaming the parents.. they went to a lawyer.. why to try and get answers and to get counsel about what is best for them and Trayvon. I do not look at grieving parents as Villians!! no matter who they r

we have different experiences I guess

what tv personalities have you heard use the word 'cracker' and still be employed?

and I just didn't see this kid as being used, she had to come forward when evidence she was speaking to him during that time surfaced

it would make no sense to ignore what she said once she came forward,,

"And then he said, 'That N-word is still following me now,'" said Jeantel. "I asked him how the man looked like. He just told me the man looked 'creepy.' 'Creepy, white' -- excuse my language -- 'cracker. Creepy [expletive] cracker

Here we have the press quoting. the N word and then Cracker. what did trayvon say. If it would of been the other way around. we would not even know the case exist
