weight is related to health especially as one ages, so my efforts to control my weight are health related. I don't really see any change in male attention since I've lost weight so I don't think it's a primary factor in their choices even tho many state it is

I'm glad you are. I support anyone who would want to shed a few pounds, for a smattering of reasons too numerious to mention.

It was just a thought, provoked by the fashion statement, "wearing black makes a woman look slimmer."

it does have a slimming effect but the line and cut of the cloth are also important - for example- horizontal seams and striping, or horizontal trims can have the effect of adding pounds visually even if the cloth is mostly a darker color like black or navy

I know most women want to look slim. Do you pick men that are clearly heavier than you, so that you look thinner, together?

No, but I have met men who are sloppy and over weight who make cracks at women who are overweight, and only want to date thinner women.

Which I think is odd.

The OP contains an ethnocentric statement.
Most women want to look slim? In which nations?
There are places in Africa where a slim woman is considered to be unhealthy.

Last time I checked, I thought I was in North America.

The last time that I checked, Mingle2 is an international website, with members on every continent except Antarctica. A female Mingle2 member in Africa alerted me to the fact that a woman in Africa is considered to be unhealthy if she isn't curvy.

I know a lot of thin girls who prefer to date bulkier guys, not because they look better but because of the sense of protection and the fact that they say it just looks better for some reason. Oh and they say, fat guys try harder to please them.
Weight as well as age, have never really affected my decision to date a guy. It's more to do with whether u interest me or not.
To me, I don't think dating a big guy would make me look skinnier, infact I think the general idea would be, "oh, look at this unhealthy couple". And the part of me that is weight concious and cares what other people think is also saying, I couldn't date a guy skinnier than me because it would look like a toothpick and a potato standing side by side.
Thank gosh, that part of me is in a very deep, dark corner of my brain, only to be brought out hissing and spitting when answering such threads.

I feel for people who are overweight, because I know what a struggle that can be. It isn't always women who struggle with the weight thing. I used to be heavier than I am now. I lost about eighty pounds, because I finally got tired of it and started exercising regularly. You have to keep at it. It's all about willpower.

Exactly! We don't get to live forever, so might as well stay healthy enough to enjoy it while we're here!

I don't see a relation either. I have much heavier friends who are approached more than our thinner friends..so...don't think so.

I do not pick men by how heavy they are. I am not heavy but I am not thin either. Most Men pick women by their figure.

Do you have evidence that most men pick women by their figure?

Yes, I would say so. But I never had a problem because I always had a great figure til a few years ago.
