Topic: Those crazy Nazis, er I mean Texans | |
---|---|
I went to University of Houston and Rice University. The "core" studies required by the State include US and Texas history. The bill only requires that the US and Texas history required by law not be substituted with ethnic studies. The way it is now, someone can take nothing but ethnic history and avoid Texas history which was not the intent of the law.

Several countries in Africa have land mine zones between 2 large fences, electrified and barbed around their borders especially at what they term as 'sensitive areas'. Army patrols make their rounds inspecting for holes in the fences or bodies between them. Seemed to work in both wartime and peacetime...Perhaps landmines along the border with Mexico might work but then I suppose they'd tunnel under the mines, relatively short distances where town straddle the borders as several do in Texas. A few countries destroyed the towns to clear the ares for land mines though...might be viable...

Life is a give and take, I have thought of that too,,, we have so many FREEDOMS In this coutnry, but some of the worst incarceration and education too,,,, where as less 'civilized' countries dont have the crime rates we do, the unwed mothers and broken homes that we do,,, they chop off the hands of thieves, and Im not at all ok with it,, but it does seem to work.... sometimes things are not so simple, ya know,, they have less theft, but at what cost...? to me maiming people doesnt seem worth saving others from losing 'stuff' to thieves,,, but its all about which goal is the most important to a person huh? |

ethnic studies do not show how or why a country is formed
or why an war of independence is fought granted the typical history class may not have enough ethnic recognition but does this law say that ethnic history classes will be discontinued i dont think so but if it doesnt then if you want to know more about ethnic participation in the history of Texas or the u. s. then take the ethnic history if you want |

This is a bit off-topic, but . . .
where as less 'civilized' countries dont have the crime rates we do, the unwed mothers and broken homes that we do,,,
Perhaps those "less civilized" countries are dominated by adults who try to maintain some kind of morality. |

Perhaps those "less civilized" countries are dominated by adults who try to maintain some kind of morality. That is one admirable aspect of extreme Islam. |

Texas Republican House Representative Giovanni Capriglione's HB1938 and Texas Republican Senator Dan Patrick's SB1128 have introduced bills that will no longer allow Mexican American History, African American History, or Women's History to count towards History requirements for a Texas degree, the way they do now. This will effectively destroy Ethnic Studies Programs in Texas. Learn More |

Perhaps those "less civilized" countries are dominated by adults who try to maintain some kind of morality. thats my point,, sometimes freedom is traded for morals,, and morals are traded for freedoms someof the most 'moral driven' cultures, also have some of the least freedoms amd some of us with the most freedoms are the least 'morally driven' |

There are probably some schools that require a person to take some course the student is not interested in. I like it when my college aloud students to use art history class in the place of the regular history classes. I was still required to take one normal history class and most of that were names and dates. Art History we covered cultures and events as well as people and dates, while have artwork to look at and know. |
