One "Twilight Zone" episode always stuck in my mind. The man in the story wanted a woman to fall in love with him...Someone handed him a magic potion and guaranteed that it would make the "woman of his dreams" fall madly in love with him. And the potion worked!...But after awhile the man grew bored. The woman's "all consuming love" for him became a burden. He wanted to do something else besides just "being in love" 24/7...My husband and I had passion for each other. (Love and enjoyment etc.)...But we extended our "passions" out into the world a little more. We developed new interests on a regular basis.. Life was exciting because we were always coming-up with new ideas and new projects...And we were passionate about finding new ways to spoil and reward ourselves too. New ways to have fun!...We enjoyed having a passion and zest for life. (In general.)

You feel okay now?
Chemo, radiation?
Mother had cancer. It had been very tough to deal with and to stay strong.

Someone once told me people will either chose the sensible match or the exciting one. But either way, most people will never have TRUE PASSION in their relationship.

Do you think TRUE PASSION is really so rare?

Have you experienced it?

What does true passion in a relationship mean to you?

Do you need true passion it in your relationship?

yes it is something I need .... I am familiar with this thing called passion. I'd welcome it's return :)

I think if you believe in true passion it will show up. I have experienced it three times unfulfilled in my life.

True passion means a lot of things. Protect her from danger, always want to do things together, she's more important than football, etc.

I count on it.

Do you think TRUE PASSION is really so rare?

 ...YES, MAINLY BECAUSE PEOPLE SEEK PLEASURE OR SENSIBILITY, FEW THINK THERE IS ANY MORE TO IT. TRUE PASSION SHOULD BE RARE AND BEAUTIFUL AND DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN.

Have you experienced it?

 ...YES, FOR FLEETING MOMENTS IN VARIOUS ROMANCES.

What does true passion in a relationship mean to you?

 ...I BELIEVE IT HAS TO BE BUILT ON GENUINE PRINCIPLES, NOURISHED WITH ACTS OF LOVING KINDNESS, SOLID COMMITMENT, HONESTY, AND COMMON DREAMS AND GOALS. IT NEEDS TO BE SOMETHING ONE INTENDS TO KEEP FOREVER STRONG (BOTH PARTIES, OR NO PARTYS).

Do you need true passion it in your relationship?

 ... :) MORE THAN EVER...

What a nice post. It gives us pause to reflect on what we really want out of life. One fling after another, because we aren't sure what we believe or want or to build something enduring that will last a lifetime when both parties are committed. Makes you dream, does it not? glasses

I don't think I could handle being in a boring and bland relationship for very long...YUK! I don't want to walk through life on "automatic pilot" like a robot...But I wouldn't want to be in a relationship that relied on drama and "upsets" all the time to create passion...No thank you to "dysfunctional passion!" And no thank you to boring and bland!...I prefer passion that makes everyone happy and leads to "good times!"

Oh I had true passion once, and loved every minute of it with my ex.
But without the effort invested in maintaining it, it can wither and die, just like a plant.
Ours died. tears
We met when we were 16, and after 12 years of being together, he got 'bored' and ended up leaving me for another woman. In hindsight I think we took that amazing love that we had for granted and didn't bother to nourish it and maintain it.

That was 10 years ago, and I must say that every relationship since then has never measured up. I had it once, and I know I won't settle for anything less. Once you know what it is like to have your best friend and lover and everything else all rolled up into one, you can't settle for less.

At least I can't.

Doesn't stop me from looking though.

True passion stems from being totally comfortable in giving of yourself to the full extent that you are capable.
The passion I am talking about comes in many forms and is expressed in many ways through being fully present in the moment whether it be at work, cooking for somebody nuturing a patient or making love to your partner. I have experienced this many times.

define 'true passion'

I have had one man whom I could not keep my hands off of, but that was a true desire,, physical in nature,,,,somehow passion brings to my mind something more emotionally substantial

I think you just know it, deep down in your heart. It's similar to instinct. They are unforgettable.
