Topic: and i always thought Canada was a free state... | |

"Rules to protesting" always struck me as an odd concept, just like the requirement of getting permits in a lot of cities here in the U.S. The idea that I should in some way have to pay for or abide by some silly dictations to protest is quite honestly, simply laughable. Sure, it might turn to a riot, but usually it isn't us throwing the first swing and if it is than the only reason it grew was because we stepped up to the aid of someone. Been there, done that...And I'd do it all again tomorrow if the opportunity presented itself. Protest is one of those necessities in order for society to continue to grow and function, it is the "Checks and balances" of the checks and balances. It is our way of making sure they don't go overboard. The violence escalates when the group of protesters don't get anywhere chanting slogans and holding up picket signs... They must make "their cause" everyones friggin cause. Disrupting traffic by blocking roads, sabotage of public transit system... You name it. All I'm saying is whoever is causing the problems and destroying public property should pay the price. A heavy price! |

blocking roads is not that bad of a thing, c'mon Moe... It's called civil disobedience and sabotage... and that hurts everybody except the retards doing it. Everyone has a cause yes? I'd hate to see every individual express themselves this way... I'm sure you meant it in a different way. |

Speech is no longer free in Canada...They now tax the $hit out of it.
The only outfits that get a (major) tax break in Canada are the corporations...The very outfits that SHOULD be the taxed entities. Corporate tax in canada is (I believe) only about 65% of the corporate tax rate in the US (which as we know has favoured reduced corporate taxes for ages). As near as I can tell, Canada has become a corporatist state that would rival Mussolini's Italy. I'll bet even ol' Benito didn't give the corporations the breaks Canada does. Of course, Canadian citizens aren't allowed to talk about such things...Anything more than a privately hushed whisper could cost you plenty. |
