Children As Political Pawns: Sequestration Style

To hear the president tell it, you would have thought the world was going to end the day the sequestration went into effect. When the world actually went on and the president's dire warnings became even more laughable, the White House responded with the emotional maturity we've come to expect from this administration: they canceled White House tours. President Obama even tried to blame the Secret Service as the reason for why at least one group of 6th graders would be denied entrance to the people's house; however, Jay Carney managed to quickly blow the president's cover by admitting that the White House canceled the tours, not the Secret Service. Now the news comes that the annual White House Easter Egg Roll may also be canceled due to the sequester.

According to Politico, the White House warned, "this event is subject to cancellation due to funding uncertainty surrounding the Executive Office of the President and other federal agencies." Yet, when asked about the possible Easter Egg Roll cancellation last week, Carney (once again) contradicted the White House's explanation. Not only did he patronize Fox News host Jenna Lee for her supposed "lack of reporting", but he revealed that the event couldn't be canceled due to the sequestration because the funding comes from outside donations. It would appear Carney is the one that needs to look into a lack of reporting.

While the White House and Democrats have dismissed the idea that the sequestration is being used to punish Republicans, the evidence indicates otherwise. What's worse is they seem to be targeting events favored by children to make their point. If the administration really is having budgeting issues, as Moe Lane at Redstate points out, how about cancelling some of those golf games instead of ruining an event that has put smiles on the faces of children for the last 134 years?

They have been using children of all sorts of political pawns. They been using children as an excuse to poor more money in to education as a way to give money to their friends and the children still are not learning anything. Even the government’s own study says that Head Start has no long lasting effect on the children taking it. That at risk children that take head start once they are out so no difference then the at risk that don’t take head start. Yet politicians still support head start to gain political points and fund some of their buddies.

Politicians in the USA have been using their own minor children as political pawns for as long as I remember.
