Hey guys, I was having an arguement with the lads at work today.

Whats more important? A job you hate but it pays well... OR ... A job you love but you scrape by each month??

I say a job you love. I don't earn alot. I do have enough money to pay my bills and go out every now and then, but I live on each pay cheque as it comes. i do however LOVE my job.

that is a good question. I had a job I was making good money but the stress of the people I was working with made me think so I quit after 22 yrs. I get less money now but less stress and I like what I do.

I have a job I don’t like and it doesn’t pay well. It would be nice that it would pay well, and then I can save up to get out of it and live comfortably on investment.

The last job I had for 13 years had a lot of stress to it and long hours at times... paid pretty good though... no benefits, could not hardle catch up and when I did they expected more.

The job I have now I have had for almost 2 years... No stress no overtime no weekends... I started off $7 less then I was making and hour. Now I'm at $5 less and hour but with paid insurance and the easiest job I have ever had in my life....

Humm which one would I take    slaphead not rocket science my happy azz is staying planted where I'm now.... Ohh and we get yearly raises here without a doubt...

So in reality if you add in the insurance cost I'm only making about $2 less and hour here already...

This is not really an either or choice. I would suggest going for what you enjoy and then live frugally so that you could invest money and the have the best of both rather than forcing yourself into terrible situations. For example.the commercial that says 'Weekends are made for Micholob" has it backward. If you were going to work at something yo did not enjoy then it would be better to do it for 2 days and enjoy 5 not the other way around.I also found that if you were to take money management seriously its easy to learn how to live on less and invest the rest for a few years. I love telling folks that with a PhD i still made less in one year than when i bought and sold classic cars and made over a 100K. The point is try to do what you love and then figure a way to make money secondarily that way wherever you are you are happy. Please dont respond that you would do so if you did not already have a great deal of debt as thats your mess and one you are accountable for...

Happiness.

Money can't buy every form of it.

Happiness, at the end of the day you will feel satisfied with yourself because of doing what you love, and if we get creative enough we could develop our passion to something that gives us more money.

I have been fortunate in my life to love the jobs I had which also paid me well.

Even if they didn't pay me well, I would want a job I loved because it makes work easier.

Been there and done it many times. Take the money and run; if it can't buy you happiness and/ or 'love', well, at least you can rent it/ her...

Ideally, you could find a way to make more money doing the job you love, but in the end what Confucius said is so true... “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”

I heard Confucius drove a Ferrari. Sharing insights apparently pays very lucratively.

i'd rather have the job that i always wanted tho it pays small. I have been in a higher paying job but it made me lazy to report for work my feet hardly take a step whenever i enter the building.
