Im sitting here watching the new show on MTV about fake profiles online and I can't help but wonder about everybody. On the other side since im real, someone out there must be real too..
I think everybody builds a certain wall of protection when putting yourself out there, specially online, but to feed someone's feelings and hope, to take advantage of someone else emotionally, its CRUEL in so many ways!
If only we could speak up more, say how we truly feel, what we Really want and HOW WE REALLY ARE!
The only way through is to be 100% real!
Otherwise you might just be wasting your time looking for your own image of what you're looking for...

Yes, there are scammers on dating sites.

I have learned to weed out the real people from the "fake" ones.

This is the internet, and unfortunately, not everyone is honest nor are they on here to find a date.

There are real people on this site. You can find many of them posting in the forums.

I have come across many Fake men on here. They email for a while then when I do not answer right they disappear. The question I ask is, are you a scammer you seem to be.

I'll tell you what,i've already run into what seemed to be at least 3-4 scammers already..the "romance scammers".I really makes it bad for everyone else out here who are legitimate to find that special someone out there,averyone else.nd it makes people like me very skeptical about this online dating stuff.
we sit here and spend an inordinate amount of our time creating legitimate profiles for other of possible interest to see,and then we get some scammers in here that screw it up for else.Be very careful of who you're looking for and the profiles you look at.i've talked to friends of mine who were already scammed and now they won't date at all.just be careful out there,have fun,and just mingle.

i would say quit watching MTV...

it's... sigh... tiresome to deal with scammers/etc. they're there to trip up women and men, it seems. Just a drag, but i like the original posters comment.... 'if im real, someone else out there has to be real as well'

not really... once you know they are a scammer, there's nothing left to deal with...

things to watch for:

they want to use a outside e-mail address, rather than communicate through mingle
anything about money, and them needing it
they same ole story about how they are stuck in a foreign place, and can't get home... the last one i talked to said her parents where killed in a car wreck in england, and she went to the funeral and didn't have any money to get back home..(just happened to live in my city, too)

mainly, if your thinking they could be, email or report them to the mods here, either by email or the "report user" box on their page... don't post anyone's name in the forum, the mods don't care for that very much...

I had one last night telling me how her mother was killed in a car crash. I said that I was sorry to hear that and asked her why she's looking at profiles in Scotland when there must be loads of men where she is in California. I suppose there's a chance that she or other ones like that that have contacted me could be genuine but it still seems a bit odd to me that I don't get twenty six year old girls that live in my own country messaging me like that.

I've been doing this for a few years with mixed outcomes. I maybe have better radar than some but I still get stung often. I'm one of those people who learned early to accept that everybody will eventually learn all my secrets, so I just live like I got none. I put myself out there, am real, am nice, and let the wind blow. To be clear, I'm also not as open as some about intimates; I'm not discussing what I did the last time I was wearing a gorilla suit... besides, it WAS her idea, mostly.
The nicest, kindest lover this decade I met online. Getting one of those every once in a while outweighs all the filth you walk through. Conversely, this decade's wildest feline in the sack I met at church. Maybe I'm out of some cosmic sync.

All it does is give trolls a way to put you down and slander you

We all have secrets. You cannot blame a person to not tell you. Sometimes bad people uses your weakness to be their weapon. We should be aware that this is an online dating. Just ask questions that are not so touchy. Then connect the dots.

Soooo.....are you telling me that those Russian chicks who email me all the time are scammers? GREAT! Way to ruin my hope for my endless love.

Optimistic: mebbe some of them are just hookers in Russia looking for a new start... they want to marry and leave the life behind. That could work!
