Topic: What is wrong with talking about sex?

I've heard both used to describe men, and sometimes they really WERE accurate. The only times that I have seen/heard the word "prude" used, it was used to belittle a person because that person refused to participate in sex outside of marriage. Again, a person is not a prude because that person refrains from sex outside of marriage. A person is not a slut because that person participates in sex outside of marriage. Both "prude" and "slut" are slurs. While it is used mostly toward women, I don't think it necessarily has to do with marriage. Just as slut doesn't necessarily have to do with having sex outside of marriage. Definition of PRUDE : a person who is excessively or priggishly attentive to propriety or decorum; especially : a woman who shows or affects extreme modesty The word "prude" is still used as a slur against women, why is why I criticized its use. The word belittles a woman who desires to maintain her bodily privacy, which is something that every woman has a right to maintain.

Do you live in a small town where they banned dancing because some kids did some drugs and went to a rave?

Very good point,it is such a repressed topic of conversation in the U.S. In both Australia and England during get togethers it was a much used topic and created fun lively discussion and debates. Here you mention it and you are villified or have a personal agenda. the way I see it some things should remain private and that means there will be isolated situations and company in which their discussion is appropriate we all use the toilet, but i dont necessarily want to take part or initiate a conversation about it,,,,and dont begrudge others who do we all have our thing sex is reserved for those I plan to have sex with or in general ADULT discussions centering around the topic for informational purpose and sharing,,, I agree with msharmony to me its private but working in the restaurant and lounge biz for 20 yrs I have heard many people converse on the subject. You would be surprised at the people that will tell intimate things to total strangers.

One of the reasons that I am trying this site is to get better at discussing the topic of sex with a woman. It is not that I can't I am just not comfortable with sex as the main topic. I don't mean like uncle pervy stuff, I would like to get to where I am able to discuss the different aspects, possibilities and such with out getting tongue tied. Is that wrong? No, it is not wrong, although it may be feel awkward. The discomfort that one may feel when discussing sex may have to do with the reason for wanting such a conversation. If a man and a woman are engaged to each other, then a discussion about sex is inevitable. In such a case, the man and woman can be more relaxed when discussing sex, because sex is a natural part of marriage. If a person does not want to wait until marriage before having sex, then the person may address the subject of "sex" at any time in order to learn if another person is sexually compatible.

In any case... getting back to topic: Talking about sex is just something that adults often do. As long as some sort of baseline is established where they can both be comfortable, it's all good. And there really isn't a way to establish that baseline unless SOMEBODY brings up the subject, is there?

People get so uptight about sex. If you don't want to talk about it or have it, don't. If you do, then do. It's really not something to get so uptight over. I echo these sentiments.
