Topic: They say we can’t cut anything but is that really true? | |
---|---|
They say if these cuts happen that teachers, police and fire fighters will loose their jobs. I don’t know about other states but the ones in my state are funded by local and state government not federal.
What about the wasteful spending? Did we really need to spend money on these here. Blow up beaver dams in Mississippi. Eliminate brown tree snakes in Guam. Study shrimp on treadmills. Cowboy poetry festival. Giving out bike helmets in rich neighborhoods. Funded a comedy tour in India $88,000 Study pig feces in Chine $140,000 Study like between heavy drinking and immaturity $55,000 Laundry folding robot $1.5 Million Train Chinese prostitutes in China to drink responsibly $2.6 Million Help smokers stop smoking by giving them Blackberry phones $1 Million Sing on roads bragging about projects like recovery & reinvestment $8 Million Video game about aliens saying the world from climate change $100,000 Climate Change Musical $697,000 Robotic Squirrel $325,000 Taxpayer-funded liquor $99,000 I got these from different news reports but it looks like they have many things they can cut. Just adding up what the reports gave, that is $14.6 Million that we did not have to spend. It may be small but I wonder how many more things we waste our tax dollars on. The truth is they say they are cutting government but they are not cutting what is being spent but cutting how much more they want to spend. So if they spend $200,000 this year on a project and next year they want to spend $400,000 next year. Then cry for cuts come out so they increase it to $350,000 to spend and call it a cut. I say the first thing we need to do is cut congresses paycheck or even withhold their checks until they do the job we hired them for. |

Good points.
They are using scare tactics to force us into borrowing more money so they can ruin the economy. I say to them... suck it up. Bite the bullet. Come what may. There are lots of things we can cut... Congress salaries for one. Retirement pay for past presidents for another. LOTS OF THINGS. WAR IN THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES. ALL THOSE NEW TANKS THEY WANT TO CREATE. |

Ah. The standard Democratic Party M.O. |

Ah. The standard Democratic Party M.O. Seriously? So Republicans NEVER DO THAT? Thus far, every time I have read about such a thing happening, it has been Democrats complaining about a "cut" that is really a smaller increase. |

If the government really wants to spend money and help spur the economy, give it back to the taxpayers. I want to start my own business, repair my car, and get a house. Give me my money back. I can put it in the bank, let it earn interest instead of taking out loans and being in debt and risking the take back man coming.

I can put it in the bank, let it earn interest instead of taking out loans and being in debt and risking the take back man coming. So true. If they wanted to, they really could help the people. But they don't want that. To them, "the public" is the enemy. We are nothing but consumers to them. They just want to justify their high paying jobs and continue to keep robbing us blind. |

They hope to taxes all of us into poverty and the government have all the money so they can say no one really has money. Income equality is so wonderful that is why everyone one is trying to get into North Korea.

Income equality is so wonderful that is why everyone one is trying to get into North Korea. What is that? You say "everyone is trying to get into North Korea? That's the first I heard of it. I think North Korea is cloning people. They clone pets for money. (And if you look at their army, they all look alike.) |

I think North Korea is cloning people. They clone pets for money. (And if you look at their army, they all look alike.) When I subbed at a local school I figure when I got paid $100, they took 11% out for taxes. When I made $200, they took 19% out for taxes. No wonder it is hard to get out of poverty when the taxes you pay almost quadruple when your paycheck doubles. |

Here's some other stuff that could use cutting.
'The median wealth of a House member is $765,010... For a senator it’s $2.38 million. Yet, incredibly, they still enjoy all of this: •$174,000 salary •Free company car •Free gas •Free parking (even at airports) •Free flights almost anywhere in the world •Per diem travel allowance... up to $3,000 a trip •A month’s paid vacation •3-day work-weeks •Free membership to a top-flight gym •Pension plan and 401K plan •Full retirement benefits (including up to 44% of their six figure salaries) at age 62 •Free top of the line health insurance with 10 plans to choose from •Fully covered – even with pre-existing condition Being a member of Congress is the most lucrative “Public Service” job in the world. Are our representatives officially out of touch with the real America? Should Congress live like the rest of us? |

One of the things the cuts don't touch is congressional salaries and perks...because they exempted themselves from the cuts.

They could eliminate a lot of cost here. Let’s see they could...
Resend the ban on fishing with explosives in Mississippi. Shrimp on treadmills, the comedy tour? Coming soon to India? Give out bike helmets in poor neighborhoods in exchange for their dead mice to stuff with Tylenol and feed to the brown tree snakes in Guam. Just visit any college campus for the study on heavy drinking and immaturity. While it might not be the best idea to combine this study with teaching Chinese prostitutes to drink responsibly, it sounds like one crazy party! The rest is just mindboggling. |
