I come from a strong judeo christian background and grew up in a deeply religious home. To me repentance means an act of contrition to go beyond being sorry to carry out a deed to make the wrong right - even if the deed is simpy to admit my mistake and apologize. Or it could be more .....doing a little extra for someone who I have wronged |

What does repentance mean to you?
I come from a strong judeo christian background and grew up in a deeply religious home. To me repentance means an act of contrition to go beyond being sorry to carry out a deed to make the wrong right - even if the deed is simpy to admit my mistake and apologize. Or it could be more .....doing a little extra for someone who I have wronged I understand coming from a similarly religious upbringing... beyond making apologies and amends we were not to repeat offend either... depending on the seriousness of this error we could be voted out of church until we seriously changed our ways... |

Learning to forgive oneself can be the hardest part 
to me...in the way I was raised, to vote someone "out" of something would be taking the postion of presuming to judge which is not for us to do as I was taught. I am not trying to argue Athena, I think your comment is interesting and I am just pointing out that my family's approach and our church's approach was otherwise. |

The acknowledgment and acceptance that ones failings either based on social norms or personal standards may not have been adhered to.As there are many forms of repentance, legalistic and say spiritual, it is some times hard to quantify....An intrinsic human quality (for some) that illuminates are failings and potential to co-exist. (hopefully),
