It just seems like those making jokes about this as shown in the OP are acting as if guns will prevent all rapes.

As stated earlier I agree with what you said about women choosing how to defend themselves. I'm all for responsible gun ownership. If that's how a woman chooses to defend herself, I have no problem with it and I hope it works.

Those of us who carry guns, as our only protection or as one tool in a protection strategy, do in fact believe we can prevent violent assault with a firearm.

So to me, this thread was really just about the baggage that goes along with the two groups fighting it out about gun control, and woman's rights, and memes/troupes regarding the characterization of those who are strongly associated with one side or the other.

Smith makes a perfect weapon for up close conditions. It's a 2", easily concealed revolver that comes in .357 and will fire .38. It also has an 8 round capacity.

I'd suggest using the .38 for practice and the .357 for defense.

Defensive strategies:

Ok, I was 18 years old and me and my friends went swimming at the local swimming pool every day. I was trying to learn how to swim better, and I was afraid of the deep end. There were three male students my same age who I know were "trying to flirt" via rough housing and tossing and dunking the girls. I did not want to be messed with, nor did I want to stop going there or report them.

This is what I did.

I got a band aid and wrapped it around my finger and placed a strait pin under it. It protruded about half an inch. The boys were ganging up on me and I warned them to stay away but they did not listen. The leader of the pack got stuck with a pin.

It totally freaked him out. He had no idea what I had done but he felt the pain. They never bothered me again.

Another strategy with a man who was trying to force himself on me in a car: I took his hand in my two hands and secured his elbow against the back of the car seat, then bent his hand downward. It was very painful.

I developed quite a reputation around school and the men and the boys all left me alone. In fact, they were scared of me.

where some see misogyny others see poorly thought out humor that is
indeed done in poor taste but it is NOT directed at women, as the OP
suggests.

some actually see that this poorly thought out humor is directed at
the unintelligent liberal thought process that, urinating, vomiting
and or using menstrual blood as a affective defense against rape but
rather those suggestions would anger the attacker and put the woman
at greater risk of injury.

why did they leave out fecal matter in their awesome suggestions of
defending against rape ?!?

if rape is truly about " power " and not about sexual arousal, using
the above mentioned defense is actually more misogynist than these
jokes and in my humble opinion, would lead to more and greater injuries to women attacked !!

the person or persons who put forth those three suggestions as an
actually defense against rape should be imprisoned for their stupidity
and see if their suggestions work in the prison environment !!
