The company says she was laid off for economic reasons and cited uncertainty over U.S. defense spending. Kunkle had become a full-time employee of the company in May 2012 and says she never received any negative evaluations or disciplinary action. |

Good for them.
The company says she was laid off for economic reasons and cited uncertainty over U.S. defense spending. I'll take the official reason given as the truth. We all know how them oBarry voters lie. |

It's very possible that she was laid-off if she voiced pro-Obama opinions in Dayton, a very radical, right-wing Rebpublican area of Ohio. In this area of the country, you're better off if you don't make your pro-Democatic opinions public. It's not safe!

Politics, like religion, should be kept private in the work place.

Politics, like religion, should be kept private in the work place. They should be. And it will be interesting to see if the employer is discriminating based on politics. |

Politics, like religion, should be kept private in the work place. Agreed it's your own business who you vote for or pray to. |

Not so 'interesting' if you get fired. Well, since this was about someone who was already laid off, it will be interesting to see if they're able to prove that it was because of who she voted for. |

If the company needs to do more cutbacks all they have to do is check the parking lot for Barry Bumper Stickers.

If the company needs to do more cutbacks all they have to do is check the parking lot for Barry Bumper Stickers. Would you support a company who fires people who are conservatives? |

if the product is useful and a good value, i could give a flying puck over a rolling donut if the company is in a cult that rapes one legged episcopalian kangaroos. the company and the employees should keep their personal beliefs personal
thats the new culture, its an employers world and employees are at their mercy,, they can literally nitpick from a long list of 'legitimate' reasons to fire whomever they wish,,,, a company hiring or firing whoever they want is nothing new. employees apply for jobs they want, employers hire who they think will fit in. both sides have the option of altering the job contract or terminating it if it doesn't suit them |

The link in the OP isn't working.
Try this link instead. By the way, the fact that Patricia Kunkle is making an accusation against her former employer doesn't mean that the accusation is true. It is up to her to prove guilt. Also, whenever lay-offs take place, it isn't unusual for the employees hired last to be the first employees to lose their jobs. Kunkle could have been dismissed from her job because of her lack of seniority. |

Kunkle could have been dismissed from her job because of her lack of seniority. Employees hired last aren't always the first to go, because they generally make less than the rest who work there. It's often people who have been with the company for many years who are let go first. Not saying that's always the case, but it is often the case, especially when the reason claimed has to do with saving money. |

this is stupid... people should just be quiet about who they vote for, then they wouldn't be making the lawyers richer...

Unless she can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that's the reason she was fired, she doesn't have a leg to stand on.
