I'm in my last stages of dominate progressive hearing loss, I have 6% left in both ears. It's not easy finding someone who would be willing to learn sign. Nor someone who would consider a deaf partner.

Dont think like that. dont talk like that again. you are talking as if you have no hope anymore. listen.... i can have any partner either deaf or dumb in as much as she loves me wholeheartedly and understand me. let me know more about you please

Im sure that i can't speak for others but i would not have ANY problem being with a woman who was deaf. If the attraction was there, her being deaf would have no bearing what soever. learning to sign would be a pleasure for the right woman. don't feel so sorry for yourself and keep a positive outlook on life. they both show up in your personality. which one do you want to show the world??flowerforyou flowerforyou

I agree whole-heartedly with what has been said as a reply to your post. There are plenty of hearing and hearing-impared people that would jump at the chance to get to know you. My girlfriend, sweetcountrygirl has a sister that is deaf, and that hasn't slowed her down one bit. She even teaches at a college. All I'm saying is look outside the box. Best wishes for ya girl.

I know EXACTLY how you feel GetSerious..I have a disability as well..I'm confined to a wheelchair due to Spina Bifida..and most guys look at me and see E.T.'s little sister..Nobody even bothers to talk to me and ask me about the disability and what I can and can't do..they just run..FAST..which I'm getting used to now..lol.

I am partially deaf...due to my allergies. I have learned to watch people and read lips fairly well.

I have to agree. Being with someone deaf wouldn't bother me. If I really liked them (as a friend or otherwise), I'd learn in a heartbeat. Might make things a little more challenging in some respects but I don't think it would really affect much.

Hang in there!

I learned Sign Language when I was little..I was lucky enough to go to schools that taught ALL kinds of children..and yes I do consider that lucky because it let me know that I wasn't as different as my relatives wanted me to believe I was.

flowerforyou I have a hearing problem too! probably from allergies, my ears ring real loud.. there is 4 differnt noises really depending on the day or time how back they are...
I have hearing aides that I can't even stand to wear they make it so any noise kills my ears.
I can't hear tones in some peoples voices & when people talk when I'm not facing them it makes it sound like "Charlie Browns teacher" talking..
My friends joke that its selective hearing!

I would welcome a deaf man and would love to learn sign.People with disabilities do have lives,it just takes a little more work.
I have panic/anxiety and it's a struggle to go places but I do because I can't give up.

When you fall in love you fall in love with the entire person, and you accept their disablity.....true love allows acceptance of the person, whether they be disabled or not.....I truly believe that you don't choose who you fall in love with.

I will take true love any day over a false love, accepting the person for who they are, not if they can hear, see, or walk, or whatever the disability might be. Don't give up hope.flowerforyou

I understand that. I have less then 40 % in one ear, the other is totally dead. I have to basically read lips, it sucks.
