Ever since my husband died I look forward to the day after Valentine's Day so I can (hopefully) buy some of my favorite candy at discounted prices...Last year I found some really nice socks with hearts on them at half-price too..So Valentine's Day isn't a total "loss" for me...But I sure do miss my husband. He always bought me a "mushy card" on Valentine's Day and my favorite chocolate truffles...He always managed to sneak in a little romance whenever he could...He started wishing me happy birthday when the clock struck midnite and wished me happy birthday (in a cute way) every hour or so all day and night on my birthday...He even wished me "happy day after my birthday" the next morning and all during the "day after!" He liked to make a "big deal" out of special days...Sure do miss him!

It means a day that exists to benefit the greeting card industry.

If you love a person, then you don't need a special holiday in order to express love for that person.

I generally try to make myself scarce between Thanksgiving and Valentines day so I can avoid all that gift giving nonsense.

How about if you get the things you want for yourself and I do the same. Then neither of us will be disappointed.

I think it's very thoughtful to not insist someone go out of their way to prove how thoughtful they are to me. Their company is enough.

It's a day like my birthday and new year's and christmas where I get to feel crap about myself and the fact that I am single and lonely, with my life just passing me by.

It's the world rubbing it in that nobody really cares about me apart from my family, as if I didn't already know that and needed to be reminded of that fact. It depresses the hell out of me.

I am sorry to hear that Tawt. Myself; I don't see it like that. My thoughts are that I am damn lucky to have my health, a job, family; etc. There are those that are so poor that they can't eat, have no homes, no jobs, or even family or friends to lean on. Or how about those suffering from a terminal illness? My life is far from perfect but; I know things could be a heck of a lot worse. You are in my thoughts Tawt. flowerforyou
