'We have the right to violate your rights'
Police now accompanying Smart Meter installations: Two homeowners arrested for saying NO! Tuesday, February 05, 2013 by: J. D. Heyes Cops in Naperville, Ill., a suburb of Chicago, have arrested two mothers after they attempted to block utility workers from installing so-called "smart meters" on their homes. The women, who were known to be vocal opponents of the wireless electric meters, apparently, were not the only smart meter opponents, however, because city officials told the Chicago Tribune they have ordered police to accompany utility crews as they install the meters on other homes where they were previously sent away. "The previous installation attempts were met with some resistance and we wanted to ensure our employees' safety," City Manager Doug Krieger told the paper. And this is why we need to be concerned about our gun rights.....because when they start pulling crap like this more and more, it'll be all we have to stop it.

What are those SmartMeters?
|

What are those SmartMeters? New wireless technology that can monitor details about your use of electricity. Who knows what else. They also want to charge a monthly reading fee of about $25.00 and yet they claim the meters will save you money. I think the meters will save the company money... not the customer. The point is, you can't refuse them.. and yet you have to pay for them. I guess you could refuse them if you went without electricity. |

What if you install solar panels in your roof and provide your own power? Sorry I am completely uninformed about the subject....but it sounds completely shady. |

There are ways to build homes today that are earth friendly and entirely off the grid with solar panels, wind power, water gathering towers etc. Why are there not more housing constructions companies building homes like this? |

No idea... but you do not have to build a house like that from scratch. Any typical house can be converter. Installing solar panels can be done in almost roof, and you can also make your own water perforation, install an automatic water extractor and filter, that way you get a house that does not have to pay for services or deal with companies that come with them...the initial inversion sucks though, but i know that i can be done. Houses like that are pretty common from here i come from. |

Only Al Gore can save us now. I read that as "We're doomed." |

They are kinda silly as is anyone who believes these meters are a danger to their privacy.
The only difference is these can be read from the street by a wireless device instead of them having to come into the yard or having to search for them. You are in the same "danger" from wifi. OOOOOOOOOHHHHHH scary |

What I would object to is them forcing the meter on me, then telling me I have to pay $25.00 a month more for them to read it.
That is like forcing you to buy something you don't want.... at gun point. Shall I perceive that they are a threat if they trespass, break a lock on my gate, and come in with guns to install some equipment I don't want? That is so absurd that they would actually do that, I can't believe it. |

You can always have the service turned off. I have a better idea. Remove the meter, put it's electronic parts in the microwave for a few minutes and then put it back on. It won't be sending any signals after that. You can disable your credit card strips the same way. |
