Life has no reason. But, an individual can choose to bring meaning to his/her life by doing great things for humanity as a whole.

The meaning of life is 22 according to the rats of N.I.M.H.

Thanks, what is 42? I see you're not a Douglas Adams fan. 42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything according to the second greatest computer ever built, Deep Thought. |

If you have no cognitive thought, it is to survive which is bred into all living beings.
If you have cognitive thought then it is what you make it. |

Since computers are stupid I will stick to the rats of N.I.M.H. answer of 22. Actually, Deep Thought was built by mice, which are super intelligent pan dimensional beings. The part we think of when we think of mice is just the part that extends into our 3D space. |

Short answer: Love.
Medium answer: an infinite universe dictates the awareness of self. Life is the manifestation of infinite resources given infinite time, and to some infinite wisdom. As the intellectually evolving we bare witness to the majesty through science and open mindedly through religion. Without love life is as predictable as the elemental universe. Love allows us to deny natural order. As an exercise try to create while destroying as little as possible in both social and material aspects. This is not love, but it is a path. The riddle of God, believer or not, is to make an intuitive leap:In Devine image we are stewards of nature. The genesis lesson is that if there is no God then we have immense responsibility. Apathy is entropy. Love is the meaning. |

life has purpose, as do all living things, to perpetuate future life and contribute to that goal.
how one goes about that, those collective choices, is called culture and / or philosphy/morality |

Well gee
I was going to say continuity through pro creation.... But i think that is what was just said above me here ? If i am not mistaken.. In a different choice of words...? I AGREE ! KiK |

life has purpose, as do all living things, to perpetuate future life and contribute to that goal. how one goes about that, those collective choices, is called culture and / or philosphy/morality I agree that all life has an instinct to pass on it's genes. However, this isn't a reason or meaning for life. It doesn't explain why the universe went to the trouble of creating life. It's nothing more than an explanation of what life does, not why it's here. |

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

In all seriousness, I think there is a purpose to it all. I'm not so sure what it is though.
I can only narrow the question down to myself. I'm sure after my life is over I will find myself in some other reality and there will be a review over all of the lives I spent here on the earth. That should be interesting. This one, was my last life here, and I think am just here to observe the end game. |
