I think it means different things to different people. I can admire someone who can abstain until marriage, I wasn't one of those but I do wish my first time had been more meaningful.

All I can say to being a virgin is make sure that you honestly are IN love with the person you give your virginity to. Now a days it truly means a lot to be a virgin...so make sure the person that gets it, cares!
I was older when I lost mine also...and I was truly IN love with the guy. I was happy it was him because I was very much IN love with him and we were in a relationship for a long time.

Its all a matter of self worth in my opinion. Not so much that shes given it up but its nice to be able to be her "first". Gives you both a connection that will always be remembered. If men and women have never been married, then there is nothing wrong with them still being virgins. A loss of virginity is not a requirement of adulthood.
