Happy. I just got a piece of fan mail from a reader of some fiction I wrote.

I use fanfic as a sort of "sandbox" for experimenting with elements of technique in a live environment -- that is, material I can put out there into the wild and receive reader feedback on it without having to worry about it's being stolen from me or my later having issues with first publication rights, since it's a derivative work to begin with. When I find what works by this method, what I've learned informs my original stories. I'm shopping for a literary agent, and hope to have something original published within the next two years.

Excited!!!! First time I'm looking after the spa alone. We have a coffee shop too, so I'll be overseeing everything and training new staff.
