everyone wants a poem
exes want love letters written in blood lovers want to be made to feel special friends need to know if I think of them as more it’s ironic really, because none of mine have ever made a bit of difference that one still left this one never came back her, she didn’t even acknowledge hers (or me) my wrist pours out soaking the pages with deep cherry sincerity, arterial-letting openness, but it’s never enough is it? no, I lost her because she thought they were all about her I gained the wrong one by allowing her to believe a certain one was about her sometimes they mean nothing, but oh how dangerous that can be sometimes they mean everything and pass by without a ripple and still they ask... I don’t have the heart to tell them most often, you don’t get to choose the poem most often it’s the poem that does the choosing kc `12 |

Get out of my head this minute KC!
You have captured the angst of a poet with your bare hands!... Don't know if you are familiar, but this is a favorite quote... "I have never started a poem yet whose end I knew. Writing a poem is discovering." Robert Frost |

This is so clever, kc... you explained a poet's life to a T... tho our experiences are different they are still so similar... and it's only the poet that knows when the poem chooses us to do the telling...

Iv’e not heard/read this, but I could have written it. I cannot tell you how many poems I have started with a short stanza, a sentence, a word. all I know of how it will end is the poem will tell me. thank you for sharing that and I will try to stay out of your head from here on... no promises |
