States can claim it's legal. I saw where the tax on it in Wa will be like some 350.00 an ounce. Who ya' think will buy the stuff with the tax stamp on it? Or, will they buy from their dealer for 100.00 an ounce and no tax stamp? Just a couple weeks ago Barry says he's gonna' come down on and bust all the 'legal' dealers. ------------------------------------------------------------- Like liquor and cigarettes. Both foreign and domestic. If you pass liquor from another country without paying a tax and are busted, you're still busted. Weed will always be illegal even if it's legalized by states and the feds. |

It's a gateway drug. I know because it was for me.
Why isn't cocaine legal? Same argument different drug. Marijauna is a mind altering drug that's a fact. So is alcohol and just about every drug that's abused. So a line has to be drawn Somewhere. Personally I'm against legalizing pot. |

I completely agree with Joe Rogan and thing that he is a great voice of reason on the topic. William Randolph Hearst did everything in his power to have it made illegal because it threatened his business. It was another example in history where an individual had the ability to manipulate the media for personal economic gain.
If a line has to be drawn, then it should be drawn fairly. Legalize all drugs. If I steal your car, it doesn't matter if I'm high or not. The crime isn't my state of mind - it's my action that impedes your ability to live happily. Cocaine should be legal. Heroin should be legal. Every drug should be legal. Why? Because it's not the place of the government to rule what we are able to do with our bodies. In terms of the cost differential - yes, it is cheaper to buy from dealers. At the same time, in my state, you can become a caregiver for patients and grow the marijuana legally (on a state level). This way, you can grow weed and you can distribute it to your patients for free. Truthfully, I don't think anyone has explained the issue better than Thomas Szasz in Ceremonial Chemistry - a brilliant book. If you want to make any drug illegal - make them all illegal. Human beings should either be free to fail or understand that they are being regulated due to stigmas that are not substantiated by health risks. Make alcohol illegal. Make tobacco illegal. But if you did make those two drugs illegal, people would still do them. Alcohol and benzos are the two types of drugs (that I am aware of at this point) where the withdrawal can kill you. Both of those are perfectly legal. One is prescribed. Both of those types of drugs are marketed. Society is sick with the fraudulent idea that people need to be protected from themselves. |

I think it is legal in one form or another in Washington and Colo. Tell that to the Feds when they come a knockin'. We will see what happens with this: PHOENIX (AP) - A judge has ruled that Arizona's medical marijuana law is constitutional and that federal drug laws don't stand in the way of public officials implementing the state law. Judge Michael Gordon of Maricopa County Superior Court says Arizona is among an "ever-growing minority of states" legalizing use of marijuana for medical purposes and that he won't rule the state is violating public policy. The case started with whether Maricopa County had to approve zoning for a dispensary in Sun City. It grew to include the larger legal question of whether federal drug laws pre-empt Arizona's medical marijuana law. Under Gordon's ruling Tuesday, county officials must provide the White Mountain Health Center with documentation that it complies with local zoning restrictions. |

I mean it's not that big of a deal I am sure the states can regulate it - it's not rocket science |

no reason for marijuana to be illegal if alcohol isnt
alcohol is as much if not more of a 'gateway' drug, as I am sure most addicts at some point early in life were also drinkers,,, alcohol also impairs judgment enough (but only when consumed to excess) to cause injury and harm to other marjuana impairs judgment enough to cause injury and harm to others,, only when consumed in excess as well |

Weed will still be illegal.
Example; To buy 'legal' weed, like booze, it will have a tax stamp. You get stopped and have a bag or pack of weed, it better have the stamp or you get arrested. I would dare bet, the penalty for having black-market weed will be stiffer than when it was 'illegal'. Moonshiners get hard time for illegally made and sold booze. Why? Tax evasion. |
