I do not usually bring this kind of issue here and this may get moved to politics. I put it here because I think it is more of an issue of human rights and freedom that everyone should know about & not all folks see the political threads.

There is an organization that wants to allow governments to restrict or even curtail our access to the internet. With this link you can have a voice. This may be the most important free speech/ freedom of information issue to arise - ever

Here's a link if you want to have a voice for choice - choose access!

There is a U.N.-sponsored meeting taking place in the city of Dubai, in which representatives from different nations are discussing regulations pertaining to the Internet.

Being that there is no central location for the Internet - because Internet servers are all over the world - adherence to any proposed regulations can only be voluntary on a nation-by-nation basis.

For example, no U.N. rule can override the First Amendment rights enjoyed by the inhabitants of the USA.

exactly, except the internet 'technology' is largely created by military,,although it has evolved into its commercial state

much like some believe borders shouldnt be controlled by anyone, many believe the same of technology

others believe technology without regulation is as dangerous as borders without enforcement,,,,,

I can understand both pov,, to be truthful

I wouldnt be wildly upset with less internet,,,I just dont see the huge positive impact it has on us in the long haul,,,,

I also wouldnt be wildly upset if people were able to continue posting as much garbage and misinformation as often and as many places as they choose to keep their 'freedom of speech'

I would just hope that if the latter trend continues , it is balanced by more of a focus on teaching 'logic' in our school system,,,,,,

I believe, to babysit and protect Liberals from themselves, the internet should be monitored by a full staff and all non-PC terms be flagged and investigated.

Anyone not abiding by prescribed, progressive liberal guidelines should be shot on sight.

You will not be advised as to those guidelines. They will be made up with each suspected case.

LONG LIVE the UN!!smokin

The only way to stop the Internet would be to shut down the grid.
People would soon learn how to publish web pages directly from their computers. (Its easy.)

Then, secret search engines would emerge.... and entire underground internet community would evolve that by passes all government control.

Then the government would have to raid people's homes and steal their computers...

Then people would use wireless access and tablets...

Networks of underground servers and access providers would spring up...

You can't stop it unless you have no electricity...

Taking down the grid is the only way, but that would destroy all the digital money in the SYSTEM.

And the Elite Banksters would be finished. Their power would be gone, except for the gold and silver they personally have in their possession.
