Missed and Memories

The dream of missed and memories
filled the air today.
Wafted through the trees
creating silent haze.

Whispers told of days before
Children's play and tears
Holding hands and kisses tender
Everyone so near.

Momma cooked the turkey
I remember how her hands
turned and stirred the bread crumbs
Her stuffing! Oh! So grand.

Lacing up the big bird
In her special way
I can hear her sweet voice
especially today.

Dad so proud of Momma
she could do no wrong.
He'd just eat it any way
Oh! She's been gone so long.

The roses while we live
given each to one
love is cooked and laced
memories are done.

Plated on the table
our lives are dished and shared.
Hearts are opened, family
burdens held truth bared.

And in this midst of memories
tabled meals of care
Silent thanks and giving
For "Loved" and those not here.
