I love telling this story.... I didn't create my profile or my user name. Oh, I've since edited the description, but my user name was picked by my buddy's wife Gretchen. She thought that it was "a waste that I wasn't married," so she picked an online dating service (JSH at the time) and created the profile one morning while I was sleeping in their spare bedroom. When I awoke that morning, she proceeded to show me what she'd done and made me promise that "I'd at least try." How she came up with Roaming Orator: It seemed to her that I'd been everywhere in the country. No matter where she brought up, I'd been there, and had a story to tell about the trip - generally a long and rather humorous one. Traveling storyteller wouldn't fit as a user name, so "Roaming Orator" was born. I can see why you'd be fond of the story.. it really is a very good one! 
my spidey senses are tingling here though.. are you perchance a writer?

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and say.. letters in the alphabet? LOL, my user name is a nickname given to me by my grandfather, and i could tell in the tone he used it, whether or not i was about to get my tail tore up

it's funny how when WE were kids.. we had a reSPECTable fear when hearing the tone in which our parents called our name!!

I hear ya.. my dad was the same at our house.. but that MAY be because both my mom and I had the same first name

I've got a couple of unfinished novels I started over the years.. I just haven't been able to write the endings though.. mayhaps it's because I have yet found me own!

I named myself after one of the greatest characters in cinematic history, from the classic Manos The Hands Of Fate.
