Could somebody please tell me what Instant Messaging is.

IM is just that. when you write something to someone they get it on the spot. You even see on the screen bottom when they are actually writting to you.

btw, you can have more than one person on the screen at a time writting sort of like a chat room. Real cool cause unlike here where you sit and wait for people to write, there its instant.

As in MSN or Yahoo, You can actually have a chat room on Yahoo where you can talk.

Video chat is the same thing but there you can only do that with one person at a time. You need to have a camera on your computer and the other person as well. You click on video and if they accept it shows your cam and theres somwhere on the screen usually top right for them and bottom right for you as you see it and same for them.

in IM you have the choice of talking to someone in private if you want or to a few people at the same time, you get an instant response that is why is called instant messg.
