He defended himself against two attackers.

DeAndre Felton and his crew had a problem: The mall was closed. The curfew in effect. But they were still high on drugs and wanted to have more fun. So they decided to beat someone up.

Turns out they chose The Wrong Guy.

They had just come from a local park where DeAndre and 15 others beat up two girls, sending one to the hospital with a broken arm.

So DeAndre came up with an increasingly popular idea: In St. Louis they call it the Knockout Game. In Illinois, Polar Bear Hunting.

Regardless of what DeAndre in Meriden, Conn., called it, the rules are the same all over: Find a person who looks defenseless. Then punch him. Or kick him until you get tired or he is knocked out. Or worse. Game over.

DeAndre was part of a pattern of hundreds of examples of black mob violence documented in more than 80 cities revealed in “White Girl Bleed a Lot: The return of racial violence and how the media ignore it.”

DeAndre knew The Knockout Game was usually pretty safe. For the attacker, that is. In Meriden, victims aren’t likely to carry concealed weapons. Nor do they fight back: As one player said in Philadelphia as his victim begged for mercy: “It’s not our fault you can’t fight.”

So when DeAndre and his gang of eight to 10 left the parking lot in a Meriden mall just a few weeks ago – soon after the park beat-down – he was confident little could go wrong when he told his friends he wanted to “beat someone up.”

They found their victim a few minutes later. Soon DeAndre and his confederate, Deshaun Jones, were peeling off from the group, heading for a guy walking home from work. Alone.

We don’t know his name or race or much else about him other than this: He was The Wrong Guy.

With their friends lurking less than 100 yards away, DeAndre and Deshaun attacked The Wrong Guy. Then came the surprise: The Wrong Guy fought back. He pulled a knife. Soon DeAndre was dead, and Deshaun was on his way to the emergency room.

It took the police a few days to piece it together. And while they did, Facebook pages, Twitter streams and a televised candlelight vigil were full of praise and happy memories for the fallen DeAndre. Full of promises to catch the person responsible. Full of rumors about what happened – including some who thought DeAndre could be the next Trayvon Martin, the Florida teenager who was killed by a neighborhood watch commander.

Two weeks after the killing, police released the results of their investigation. They said they delayed release of the findings out of respect for the family of DeAndre and on the advice of community leaders. Curiously, the police report did not mention the earlier mob attack involving DeAndre. Nor did the police mention what, if anything, they did out of respect for the two female victims of the earlier assault.

But the report left little doubt about what happened that night.

They talked to other members of Andre’s mob, plus a dozen more people, and they all said the same thing: DeAndre and Deshaun attacked The Wrong Guy, who then stabbed them in self-defense.

The families didn’t want to hear that explanation.

Deshaun’s mother said the police had it wrong: The Wrong Guy was the real attacker.

“This is a monster, this is a monster after children,” Alexis Jones said. “This man is still on the streets, and my son is sitting home trying to recover. My son has two stab wounds in his back, one on his side, and he has a slice on his neck.”

DeAndre’s mother joined in.

“I just don’t believe it. My son was not raised to be a troublemaker,” said Valda Felton. “I don’t want them or anyone else to make my child out to be a villain.”

Family friend and minister Rev. Dante Moss, who officiated at DeAndre’s funeral, held a press conference and called the police findings a “comic book.” Moss compared DeAndre to Trayvon.

The minister and the family said the police had it wrong: The Wrong Guy attacked DeAndre and DeShaun, not the other way around.

Police say not one of the people present corroborated Moss’ claim. But Moss just kept on keeping on.

He posted the following almost a dozen times on DeAndre’s Facebook page, now a memorial site: “The Funeral is over but Deandre is still screaming for Justice! Get Ready to Rock The Earth! Don’t let him Die Twice!!!! Stand Ready to Rock the Earth!”

Posters to local news sites pitched in, including his aunt.

“Deandre was trying to help his friend after he got stabbed,” said Talitha Frazier “Then deandre got stabbed in his back. I have one question? In the state of Ct. at what point are you allowed to take someones life. Some one please answer that for me. I am his aunt.”

Katie Lynn posted this after the funeral: “deandre lost his life..sticking up for his friend. he’s a hero. people just need to stop pointing fingers and realize the grief that family is going through.”

Lots of people joined with Moss to say they had no faith in the police investigation. And they believed the crime against DeAndre and Deshaun was racially motivated.

“Why should another one of Gods black angels die without no type of justice again from the meriden police dept,” Edwina Lebby posted on Facebook. “If it were a white kid justice would of been served!!!!”

“He was stabbed last night on kensington ave by a coward who didn’t stop to think that this was someone’s baby ughhh,” said Annette Rosado “God i hope they catch this person:(”

Celines Matias Rodriguez said: “justice for deandre!! And for his friend who was stabbed while he was turned away!!!! An arrest needs to be made!!!! An adult using a knife on small children needs to be punished!!!! I pray to God that charges are brought about soon….”

“Where’s the video? Show it to us,” said another Facebook poster. “Hmmmm. I want to know why they had to go find this guy 22 hours later if he was attacked. I want to know. Doesn’t sound right to me at all. He’s so innocent? Really? Then why did he run and hide? Just someone answer that.”

But catching The Wrong Guy was not a problem. Hospital video and witness accounts led the police to his door less than one day after the attack. He handed over the knife and expressed surprise one of his attackers died. His name was not released.

Others in Meriden point to several other examples of black mob violence say this was not an isolated incident. Said MeridenMom: “Where was justice when my 40 year old brother was innocently ‘jumped’ last summer by a group of teens/young boys and when the neighborhood churchman was ‘jumped’ this past summer walking home from a nightly service by a group of boys. My kids knew and went to school wit[h] both teens and knew exactly what happened before news reported it. Kids was high looking for trouble and jumped somebody.”

Despite the best efforts of Moss to the contrary, the earth did not rock.

No charges have been filed in the stabbing or the assault. DeAndre was 15 years old. DeShaun is 13.

Four days later and 1,300 miles away in St. Cloud, Jesse Smithers was getting ready for another round of the Knockout Game.

Smithers was riding with a car-full of friends when he spotted The Right Guy: a 20-year old student named Colton Greaser.

Smithers told the driver to stop the car. He got out and punched Greaser in the face.

They did not have to worry about Greaser carrying weapons. That’s not what college students do in Minnesota. Soon Smithers was back in the car, bragging about his knockout punch.

Greaser died that night. And Smithers was charged with murder soon after. None of the friends was charged. Though a judge did have to issue a no-contact order because many of the witnesses were being threatened – another tradition of the Knockout Game.

Then again a lot of attorneys try to make the victim the criminal. So do people on a racial tear especially when they think they have the government to back them.

I like to listen to RAP and Hip-hop, no joke. I like the rhythm, the beat, the songs, the tunes. If you listen to that genre long enough, eventually the quality of artistry becomes indistinguishable for the listener between RAP and Beethoven or between Hip-hop and the virtuoso church organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach, an early East-Berlin Hip-hop neon-nazi squatter who digged Gammler jive. Sure DeAndre was a criminal, but his being black is coincidental.

To the Guy Who Tried to Mug Me in Downtown Savannah night before last. Date: 05-27-09, 1:43 A M EST.

I was the guy wearing the black Burberry jacket that you demanded I hand over, shortly after you pulled the knife on my girlfriend, threatening our lives and me.

You also asked for my girlfriend's purse and earrings.

I can only hope that you somehow come across this rather important message.

First, I'd like to apologize for your embarrassment when I drew my pistol after you took my Jacket. The evening was not that cold, and I was wearing the jacket for a reason.

My girlfriend had just bought me that Kimber Model 1911 .45 ACP pistol for my birthday, and we had picked up a shoulder holster for it that very evening.

Obviously you agree that it is a very intimidating weapon when pointed at your head wasn't it?

I know it probably wasn't fun walking back to wherever you'd come from bare footed since I made you leave your shoes, cell phone, and wallet with me... (that prevented you from calling or running to your buddies to come help mug us again).

After I called your mother, or "Momma" as you had her listed in your cell, I explained the entire episode of what you'd done. She seemed to be extremely pissed at you. I'd maybe think twice about going home for awhile.
Then I Went and filled up my gas tank as well as four other people's in the gas station on your credit card. The guy with the big motor home took 150 gallons and was extremely grateful!

I gave your shoes to a homeless guy outside Vinnie Van Go Go's, along with all the cash in your wallet. [That made his day!]

I then threw your wallet into the big pink "pimp mobile" that was parked at the curb ... after I broke the windshield and side window and keyed the entire driver's side of the car.

Later, I called a bunch of phone sex numbers from your cell phone. Ma Bell just now shut down the line, although I only used the phone for a little over a day now, so what's going on with that?

Earlier, I managed to get in two threatening phone calls to the DA's office and one to the FBI, while mentioning President Obama as my possible target. The FBI guy seemed really intense and we had a nice long chat (I guess while he traced your number etc.).

In a way, perhaps I should apologize for not killing you ... but I feel this type of retribution is a far more appropriate punishment for your threatened crime. I wish you well as you try to sort through some of these rather immediate pressing issues, and can only hope that you have the opportunity to reflect upon, and perhaps reconsider the career path you've chosen to pursue in life.

Remember, next time you might not be so lucky.

Another reason for any kind of carry, and training your situational awareness and preparedness.

I have seen with my own eyes a elderly gentleman absolutely rule two guys trying to strong arm him. This was years ago. The old man just came out of a liquor store with a bag he was drinking from (Hmm, I wonder what he was drinking). Now granted this man had a cane and walked with a limp. One of these two gorillas grabbed his bag and tossed it to the street and the other tried to get behind him. He kneed the guy in his face in the crotch and turned on the other guy who grabbed for him and the old guy grabbed a hand full of the assailant's crotch. Then the cane came into play. He beat both men into the ground and had them crawling away screaming for the beating to stop. Another guy off the street began to dig in the pockets of the two younger men (they looked like they were around 18) who just got broke off but the old man tried to stop him. The dude on the street cheerfully told him these two owed him a bottle and he was collecting for him. That and they owed him for trying to strong arm him. the old guy waddled happily back into the liquor store and came out with two bags. the guy who took the wallets from the two clowns stood there for ten minuets giving them all kinds of crap about how an old man beat them up trying to tax him.

The construction crew I was with all laughed our backsides off at how two muscular youths tried to get ghetto on an old man and lost badly. Worst is the two little girly boys called the PD and wound up getting themselves arrested. Sometimes lunch in the Ghetto can be quite a lot like TV only when the bullets start flying they are real and you really better be stepping and ducking for cover! East Inglewood my shniggies... That place still makes the CPT look like Beverly Hills! Hang out there if you want to see some action... Oh boy, the Athens District... FUN STUFF THERE! And the Crenshaw District? You are swirling down the hole of the toilet before entering the sewer there. Once upon a time the Crenshaw District was upscale. There are to this day houses that were 12 bedroom and are just flat out huge! But they are so trashed now. If a neighborhood has dirt yards, barred windows, and beer bottles and spent condoms in the gutter you are in the WRONG part of Los Angeles. Heck, People die in Harbor City in LA all the time. I bet none of you heard of Harbor City.

Most crime in Hollywood is Homeless or drug oriented. The further south you go the more gang oriented it becomes. Downtown LA is South of Hollywood. Hmmmmmm, South Central LA, there is a real Garden of Humanity there (GANGSTAS CHILL THERE!). Lennox, Gangstas chill there too! They almost everywhere. Heck I had to cross paths with the clowns who called themselves Locals only from Manhattan Beach. Bunch of elite white preppy trash who thought themselves gangstas. God they were such a bunch of pansies compared to the guys I lived among and grew up with. 4 Cholos were worth ten of those girley boys!

But the point to all of this is you don't necessarily need a gun to protect yourself. Most of it is people got to get off of the couch and get some training just to fight. I have tossed an assailant in front of on coming traffic before. Judo can be applied in ways that would make an instructor scream at me the point is not to kill people. Even if I am using a truck driven by someone else as the weapon... But in all reality the fact is criminals carry guns and having a knife in a gun fight is pretty weak!

I do agree that people who wish to carry concealed should provided they can pass the same training as a police officer pertaining to the wielding and use of a firearm. This is one case where the police and our government are failing us in that keeping us ignorant of the right and wrong ways of wielding a firearm is just as much a part of the problem as criminals being armed in the first place! God knows, if a Van Ness (Hollywood) style shootout occurred again I would not waste time for the police to man up enough fire power to stop the criminals. I will opt for the dirty tricks like fence hopping to maneuver behind them and head shots with buck shot. Or grab a hunting rifle and test their body armor. Currently there is no proof against a 30.06 even with the best body armor out there. But again at least having been trained to go hunting (I took the approved course and got my card) I know there is a time to abstain from shooting especially with a beast like a 30.06 like when there is a risk of the shot going THROUGH the target and into a crowd of people. THAT IS A NO NO! Now a shot into them and into a parked car? HELL YES! Just be sure there is no one in the car. Knowledge like that is the result of training but even having been to a Hogan's Alley I have learned something, even in a simulated "hot" situation you can and will make mistakes if you cannot keep yourself and your adrenalin in control. I personally have never been in a "Hot" situation like that and if so I would hope like hell to maintain my head to be in control of the situation and not spraying ammo randomly! But not everyone has the capacity to act under duress like that and training can help people learn their limitations because the last thing we need is a person with a card and an itchy trigger finger trying to go Rambo in a bad situation the police are already in. One of the biggest problems the police face is they already are on maximum overdrive adrenalin wise and they can mistake a good Samaritan as a bad guy and shoot the wrong person themselves. There would have to be a way for people to signal the police they are coming in to help. I do not think the police are willing to spend the money to have citizen coordination on the level they need to minimize people getting shot or shooting just because of a host of stupid reasons.

Its all about money and a huge Catch 22 about the issue! Public safety has a cost you know. And the police don't like it when we can protect ourselves. It puts them out of work!

Too bad our constitutional rights are so muddied up with BS laws meant to confuse things more than solve real world issues we face!
