Well. I try and be kind but direct also.

May I suggest that you soften a little. Coming on here and telling a bunch of nice people trying to make you feel welcome that the site we chose to spend time at is crap, may afford you less and less quality conversation.

Some people on this site can be tough to deal with for new people, so I can see where she's coming from. I do understand that some are trying to joke around with her, but remember that she doesn't know anyone. The joking around may not come across well to strangers.

It's alright, OP. People are just a bit wary of using email away from here, until they know for sure you won't scam. It's understandable. Welcome. drinker

new to site was not aware it had private messaging thank you for informing me gee some real negative nancies on here to

These days, one needs to play it safe when online.

Very true David. Seems like if Yahoo Messenger was all that hot and or secure they would not have to be constantly trying to recruite people away from other sites.

I wonder if it gives people some kind of perk or another to get a new person?

So far anyone I have ever messaged that wanted me to go to yahoo was evenually deactivated from this or other sites as being "undesireable" for one reason or another. You sign on Yahoo messenger it loads up your computer with a ton of cookies. Who wants to sit through "housekeeping" everytime you want to sign on?

Oh well I guess if you don't jump up and down and say yippee lets chat you are being negative.

I don't really understand that sentence that I bolded above. Who is trying to recruit people away from other sites? Yahoo Messenger?

yahoo and other email services like that aren't very secure. People can hack very easy (I know because I was hacked)

Not to mention, if someone tries to scam you in yahoo...it's out of our jurisdiction

How secure is this site? Do people's accounts ever get hacked?

It's secure. The only way someone can hack your account is if they have the password

I would suggest that anyone that goes to yahoo or other means of IM keep a record of all your e-mails. If in fact they are a scammer that alone can get you out of deep trouble if you get caught up in one...

Always play it safe regardless where you go....

That didn't really answer my question.

Some people will want to use chat services off the site, because it's easier and some won't. Either isn't wrong. It's just a matter of preference.

ummmmm yeah that answered the question. If someone wants to go off site, that is obviously their choice. I was explaining why (in my experience) it's not a good idea. There is nothing preventing them from doing so though.

You're cool, casskitten, you'll fit in just nice.

It takes two to tango; anyone can misunderstand another person's jokes, just like you said.

People like to dance, but when one does the tango and the other, the cha-cha, there is a lot of stepping on toes by and of both partners.

Eventually all partners learn how to harmonize their steps.

"May I have zis dance, mon cheri mademoiselle (ou madame)?"

We have "in-jokes" which Jesus himself would not understand the humour of, if he hadn't been aware of the foregoing events.

And some of our jokes are based on character knowledge, which is also impossible for a newbie to be aware of, no matter how intelligent she is.

Let me put it this way: Stay here and enjoy the company, as long as there is anythign to be enjoyed for you. When the joy stops, don't overdo your tenacity, leave us.

You see, life is so full of ugly stuff that we don't want to do but yet we must do, that to spend time voluntarily in a place which you don't like is not smart.

If you like it here, stay.

If you don't like it, don't stay.

We are ... a little bit like America.

We would like you to stay, but we won't force you.
