Topic: Decision time anyone? | |
---|---|
Do you think that you do reach a point when dating someone new, when you both should discuss progress and make a serious decision about the future of this newly found relationship, or are you of the opinion that it is better to just carry on dating until someone decides to buy a ring and make a proposal, or it breaks up and ends for some reason?

Communication is very important. If there is no communication, the relationship won't last.

The reality is that some are talkers and some are not. If you try to force a non-talker to discuss a relationship, you will cause hard feeling and damage the relationship.

If I dated someone for a while (i.e., several months), and we somehow developed a dating 'routine' then I'm going to want to know where his mind is at... if we will continue to just date and see where it goes, or if he is looking for something more serious. Otherwise, would just be wasting each other's time. I'm a talker and I was with a non-talker. Needless to say, the relationship didn't last. |

Thanks everyone for your post replies. I believe that after you have had several dates with someone new, you should both discuss how you feel about where the relationship is going and make some decisions, to know you are both of the same mind and objective must be better than trying to second-guess the situation. I agree that communication is key to a successful relationship.

Its nobody's fault that they despise talking about their feelings. I talk about my feelings all the time. I feel hungry. It feels cold out here. I feel like I could use a beer. I think I'm gonna feel her..... |

The major cause of a divorce in marriage is lack of communication and understanding between the couples. I think they ought to be an assessment talk early enough in the relationship so people dont get hurt later.

I would think you should be able to discuss it as you are adults and should be able to communicate like adults. Me, I never got to the point as the relationships ended way before that point. |

I've never liked to "rush things." It usually takes me a long time to consider being part of a "permanent duo."...Maybe this is because I'm so independent. And I don't do well with men who expect me to play the role of a traditional woman. (Or wife.)...It takes time to see "all sides" to people. Everyone tends to be on their "best behavior" in the early stages...Anyway I don't like to "rush" or "be rushed" and I've always been "upfront" about this (early-on) when I've dated or been involved with someone.
