I'm a bit embarrassed to ask for help with this, but I've got to admit, I'm stumped.

I've been working out for several months and I had been successfully losing weight and toning up, but lately I've seem to have stalled around 220 pounds, just between fit and fat, muscles clearly seen under a flabby layer, almost mocking me because I am so close, but I can't seem to get any further.

I always used my own system with diet and exercise because honestly, I have no idea what I'm doing. I never sought out help because until recently, it worked. I guess I'm asking is, do any of you guys have any sort of advice to help lose weight primarily, but also to build muscle?

Joshy, it has always been my best advice to consult with your doctor about exercise. Talk with them and let them know what you are doing, eating, and if you use any vitamins or suppliments, and see what kind of advice they can offer you.

Yeah, that probably is the most wise solution to be sure.

My brother is a Physical Therapist and has been really no help at all, but perhaps someone with more experience.

hey joshy, i woul dsuggest, you increase the cardio and go for atleast 1 HIT sessions per week, also use medium weights for more reps and increased speed, and if you can handle it throw in the super-setting of alternating muscle groups.

Ok, I understood most of that...

But What's HIT and what do you mean by Super-setting?

Like I said before, no idea what i'm doing.

you have to step up your routine
add something into it like jogging 20 minutes

H.I.T = Hight Intensity Training, that is like training for higher repitations and more force withing shortest possible time intervals and short breaks

super setting is doing 2 exercises combined as a single set say you bench for 12 reps and immediately go for back barbell rows for another 12 reps and then rest

Thank you all, I think the most important thing is to give up hope. I just need to step it up and work even harder to break through that current wall.

dont give up..you have just plateaued...(dont check my spelling on that)...add a little something more...i have a personal trainer and he is all about cardio...the weights are great but for maximum results he says you need tons of cardio..so take a run-jog, or a fast walk...something to get the heart pumping and you sweating...also a little hint my trainer gave me its really not the size of the weight..most of the time..so even f you have to use a lighter one..more reps = better results...hope this helps...noel

You have all been very helpful, I figured I needed more cardio or my diet was off or something I hadn't thought of yet, that's why I was asking.
