I actually have a memory of the dirt yard in California.
I remember playing in it with my brother.
This is quite unusual for someone my age to remember.
we lived there when I was 6 mths old to 18 months old.

Sweetie ..you still play in the dirt. Are you sure you are not confusing the two?

Wanna play in the dirt.......with me??

I remember at age 2 1/2 trying to make breakfast for my mom(dad was in the army)and I had everything I could get my hands on in that skillet.. Thank goodness I couldn't turn the stove on..
I also remember at age 3, getting my tonsils out in a dr. office.. A neighbor boy (his dad was in the army too) had his out at the same time and he got to bring his tonsils home in a jar to show his dad who was coming home on leave.. I remember crying because I wanted wheaties to eat and mom wouldn't give them to me...lol

I was on my seventh long paragraph answering this question, when the keyboard slipped a bit in my lap, my hand brushed over a few key keys randomly, and the whole typed-in stuff disappeared. I can't "undo" it either, I tried.

I hate it when this happens. Happens about four times every day.

got a faint memory of when i was two and got my fingers burnt. Mum said i always liked going to where fire is and everyone kept watching out but one day the lamp was on and i got down from my mum leg, walking towards the burning lamp, my dad tried to stop me but mum asked him not to.. I got to the lamp and held it wit my hands, ah! The pain i still remember. Lol.. I ran screaming and crying. Mum carried me and put ice on it, then red palm oil.. I still have the mark on my right thumb.

I have memories of the first house I lived in and a couple of my favorite toys. Not sure exactly how far back they go actually but
it is easy to say that I was two years old.

We moved when I was 2 1/2 never to return to that location again.

True story.

One thing I remember is that house had pushbutton light switches
that I learned how to use and I would drag my wooden stepstool down
the hallway (hardwood floor) and turn the light on at one end of the
hall and drag it bad to the other end of the hallway and turn the
light back off...over and over again apparently to hear my parents
talk about it...

laugh

But I remember that quite well and the light bulb going on and off.

laugh

I remember our neighbor chasing a squirrel with a broom in our
backyard while I laughed hysterically. Dang squirrel was eating
all his bird seed. Squirrel wins.

does your memory go?

my first memory is when I was four and lied to my parents about something,,,and got spanked

I watch my daughter , who is five, how quickly she picked up english language and grammar just through observation and how her perceptions and 'facts' are all based in nothing but what I expose her to

how much of how we see ourselves and the world is set from an age so young that we cant even remember?

I dont remember why or how I developed my tendency to prefer doing 'right' and not harming others,,,but IM sure it is because I developed those things at an age that is earlier than my memories allow me to consider,,,,

,,,,anyway,...getting off topic of my own topic..lol

how far does YOUR memory go?

Not sure. Younger than 8 though. I remember arguing with my dad about which way was shorter going home from the store we lived by. I also remember his first lie to me, which was that he loved me. His second was that we would always be friends.

I remember the day my parents seperated, when they were together how they would argue and fight.

I remember seeing my dad choke my mother in the kitchen. I also remember him pushing the dog down the basment stairs and slamming her against the wall for barking and not liking the dog house he built.

I remember having a black dog named Tasha and liking a very beautiful girl with the same name and hugging her when I had a karate tournament my parents didnt attend.

Wow thos all sound like terrible memories but theyre not really.

Yeah, you can't fall back with the payments when you deal with a tough four-year-old from the Bronx.

I have a few earlier memories but my strongest memory is when I had my tonsils removed. (When I was around 4 or so.)...My diet was limited to jello and ice cream and clear broth soup and fruit juices (etc.) until my throat healed-up...My parents decided to roast a ham that day. I remember laying on the couch and smelling the ham cook...Finally I asked my Mom why she was cooking the ham when I couldn't eat any of it. I said that it was unfair. (Or something like this!)...In the end my parents gave me some ham "shavings" to eat and I was happy!..It hurt my throat a bit but nothing "bad" happened! The sky didn't cave-in or anything like that! My throat still healed on time!

How far back does my memory go
Well first,,,
"Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith
And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around St. Petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a general's rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
I shouted out,
"Who killed the Kennedys?"
When after all
It was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached Bombay
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's confusing you
Is just the nature of my game
Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me Lucifer
Cause I'm in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I'll lay your soul to waste, um yeah.."

Sorry, couldn't help myself...

I was four and I remember going to see Jaws 2 at the theater. Lol. It was a drive in and I was so amused with everything there. Plus, seeing a huge phucking fish on screen was awesome! Haha!
