Alaana I feel kinda the same way you do.

i wouldnt want to be videotaped either.....in fact I dont even think i would want so many people in the room.

I dont know if i could have my parents or any family member with me in the room.
I would think if it was the second child I would let my first in the room with me, it would be a good experience for them.

Al though you never know in that moment you may want someone with you thats been there before...but i thinking about it now, i would definitly not want my father present, that seems uncomfy.

Anybody here wouldnt have a problem with there Dads being in the delivery room with them?

Alaana, do you think the fact we are so ickied by the thought of family in the delivery room is because we are young? Do you wonder if our opinions will change when we come to that point in our lives?

Yeah we all are cautious of our dignity....
We will always have our dignity regardless of situation, it just sometimes ends up being hidden by embarrassment!

All though I cant wait to see what all the more experienced and worldly women of the board have to say about Dads in the delivery room, lol.

And i dont think dignity is going to be an issue when you tweak out cause you have a little person inside you gettin ready to come out!

Did not read the whole thread, so I'm just responding to the original topic.

Labor and delivery...piece of cake. Modern drugs are a miracle.

Went to the hospital in the moring. My doc on call was in surgery. They checked me and I was only 2 cm. After 2 hours of walking, the sent me home with a Seconal. So, I proceeded to labor at home. Said f-it, went back and was 5 cm. Should have had them chck me before I left...turns out my water broke while I was there, but I did not know it since I was on the loo. Most comfortable position for the labor pains. Got my 'margarita' (phenergan and nubain), waited for my epidural, had my boy at 9:05 pm. Only 20 minutes of pushing, then assistance from the vaccuum (my son was caught up in his umbilical cord).

Whatever pain and discomfort I had, I can honestly not remember. Got gall stones from the pregnancy and the gall bladder attacks were worse than any labor pains.

Yes, my ex-husband was in attendance. As a gift to him, I asked the doctor for a daddy stitch when they were putting me back together. The doc let me tear rather than cut me.

Wierd memories of that week. Had a dream that the doc that did deliver me would. And started pushing right after Friends was over. It was the Holiday Armidillo episode. They had to kick my father out of the room so I could deliver. And my mom and brother in law were listening at the door!

Now I have a crazy almost first grader. Don't know what I ever did without him.

Did I mention "ouchy ouch" already? laugh

I am SOOOO amazed at women who have multiple children. Is it true you "forget" the pain? noway
