confusion

freedom of speech refers to LAWS PASSED BY CONGRESS

it doesnt require or refer to business and how business owners choose to conduct their freedom

I cant go into any store and abuse the clerk and expect the constitution to refuse that store the right to refuse me service in the future

likewise, businesses that run on advertisement make their profit off of viewership,, they have every right to choose and refuse who they do business with as it pertains to or affects their profits

thats not a 'freedom of speech' issue, thats a contractual issue that each business has the right to include when choosing who to service or provide to,,,,

Also, Freedom of Speech does not include incitement of violence
towards others "yelling fire in a crowded theater". This would
include Nazi propaganda, incitement to lynch blacks, plans to
assassinate the President or terrorism recruitment etc etc. But
in the case in point - no violent incitement to attack Jews.

That's why people likely object....

It prompts the question, 'why would anyone object to Google removing links to anti-Semitic hate sites?'

I got that one

its the whole 'who will decide' debate

who will decide what is racist, hateful, violent, improper, wrong,,,?

we should all live amongst hundreds of millions of others just deciding all these things for OURSELVES and following through on those opinions with no interference, or stigma, opinions, or reactions, or consequences

First of all, I did not see any "anti-semitic" "hate" websites. Just some sites the may not support the State of Israel and Zionism.

Secondly, I can't believe you would even ask that question.!

The thugs at the ADL are well known for trying to intimidate people. They can pretend to be "nice" but they are not fooling anyone. (and the organization are thugs with criminal and FBI records)

Even IF they were "pretending to be polite," it is NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS if Google's automatic search engine algorithms point to sites that the ADL don't happen to like because they don't "flatter" Israel. If they have a problem with anything on any of those sites, and if any of those sites are lying, then they can sue them for libel.

But to try to intimidate Google is just wrong and thuggish.

Its just like the mob would do. Just like someone did to the Guy in Payton CO who was threatened to stop publishing articles about Cattle mutilations... threatened with his life and family's life.

I saw nothing illegal or inflammatory on any of the sites they linked to. Just a lot of information that perhaps Israel and the ADL might not want publicized.

To go to Google is improper. Google strives to give the best results to people who search for certain key words.

No one has the right to interfere with ANY FLOW OF INFORMATION that is not illegal.

Business is business and they are sticking their nose where it does not belong. If they don't like the sites, then they should take it up with the sites, not the search engine.

geeeze.

There are none so blind as those who will not see.

Promoting Hate Speech is not protected and it should be protested.
There is no place in civilized society for promotion of hatred and
violence.

And the ADL is right on that one.

Well, my experience denotes otherwise.

Secondly, I can't believe you would even ask that question.

My experience prompted the question.

The thugs at the ADL are well known for trying to intimidate people. They can pretend to be "nice" but they are not fooling anyone. (and the organization are thugs with criminal and FBI records)

Oh, please. This hysteria is silly.

Even IF they were "pretending to be polite," it is NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS if Google's automatic search engin algorithms point to sites that the ADL don't happen to like because they don't flatter Israel. If they have a problem with anything on any of those sites, and if any of those sites are lying, then they can sue them for libel.

Being the ADL it is their business, furthermore, you should be aware of the difficulties in prosecuting sites especially when based offshore.

But to try to intimidate Google is just wrong and thuggish. Just like the mob would do. Just like someone did to the Guy in Payton CO who was threatened to stop publishing articles about Cattle mutilations... threatened with his life and family's life.

What intimidation?

I saw nothing illegal or inflammatory on any of the sites they linked to. Just a lot of information that perhaps Israel might no want publicized.

I'm sure you saw it that way.

To go to Google is improper. Google strives to give the best results to people who search for certain key words.

Thanks for that. I'm sure they appreciate the plug.

No one has the right to interfere with ANY FLOW OF INFORMATION that is not illegal.

It is a matter of record. The ADL are a bunch of thugs with criminal records that go around threatening people. They think they have clout, but they are just thugs.

Right.

Its called FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND FREEDOM OF THE PRESS ETC.

And on this club i see tons of hate speech against Muslims and Arabs and Palestinians and you all say... oh but thy are "terrorists." Or "They are considered or suspected to be "terrorists."

Buzz words and B.S.

I don't defend terrorism on either side of the fence but the way you guys spew your rhetoric and excuses you would have everyone believe that everything is black and white and Israel are the innocent victims and the good guys and the Palestinians are all terrorists, even the children.

Exactly right !

The ADL is NOT the decider. Its none of their business what links show up in Google.

frustrated

I for one do not tolerate thugs or anyone who threatens people or sticks their noses in where they do not belong as if they have a right or as if it is their job.

Not its not. I hope google uses all their money and power to tell those thugs where to stick it.

Freedom of speech means that people should have the right to tell the truth or even tell what they believe to be the truth even if someone else does not like it.

Now, if it is a lie, then take legal action.

The ADL are so stupid that they wanted to blame Google for the search results. Google had to explain to them that it was an automatic algorithm. The ADL are either not smart enough to know that or else they just wanted to apply "pressure" on google to do their bidding.

They are out of line to do that. That is my whole point.
