I think its hard to 'rate' a profile
a profile PICTURE is a bit easier as there is an understood expectation for physical taste to be the primary factor but the WRITTEN portion discloses so much about a person, all thats left to 'rate' is whether they are compatible or not I prefer someone who speaks/writes fluently and intelligently, has a bit of wittiness and humility about them, loves music and dogs and kids, and isnt too obsessed with outdoors and appearance,,, |

Different people will think differently about pictures. Just as they would about profiles. |

But, In my 50 yrs of being around this earth and dealing with different people, (I've always worked in customer service one way or the other) Some of the dumbest people I ever met were educated. Some of the dumbest people I ever met speak and write fluently. I have found that using how well someone speaks or writes as an indicator of all around "smarts", Well, It isn't always that way. I know everyone has their own "thing". I'm more attracted to "common sense" than I am education. Education is a good thing. Nothing wrong with it. If you have an education but lack common sense, You're lost. I don't go for the txt speak or slang myself. I'm not one to turn my nose up at someone for misspelling or bad grammar. But, I will run as fast as I can in the opposite direction from someone who lacks common sense. Lack of education has never hurt anyone. Lack of common sense can get you killed. (:o) Here is another thing about profiles. You can make yourself sound very educated or uneducated. But one thing you can't hardly convey in a profile is common sense. |

I find it hard to take people seriously if they're always misspelling words, if they don't even try to use correct grammar and if they leave out punctuation. Having worked for a company for many years where the main form of communication is email and IM, I can absolutely say that it's tough to interpret what people mean if their writing is not up to par. The same goes for a site like this. If I have to really try hard to interpret what they're saying, I am going to lose interest quickly. We're all different, though. Not everyone will be picky about someone's writing style and will be more willing to try and figure out what someone is saying. I do have to disagree about lack of education not hurting people, though. |
