Dems Remove All References to ‘God’ From 2012 Party Platform
Posted on September 4, 2012 at 2:50pm by Billy Hallowell

The Democratic Party may be getting a fair amount of attention this week — and not only because the political movement is hosting its national convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. Another point of focus has already been the contents — or the lack thereof — present in the 2012 Democratic Party Platform.

Earlier today, we told you that the document fails to mention Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, a proclamation that was previously touted by the party. And now, in an even more shocking revelation, CBN News is reporting that the Democrats have removed mentions of “God” from the document as well.

This is a departure from the past. In 2008, the platform read (emphasis added), “We need a government that stands up for the hopes, values, and interests of working people, and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential.”
equation

With the words “God-given” removed, the 2012 platform sticks to a more secular script: “We gather to reclaim the basic bargain that built the largest middle class and the most prosperous nation on Earth – the simple principle that in America, hard work should pay off, responsibility should be rewarded, and each one of us should be able to go as far as our talent and drive take us.”

In the end, the Democratic platform doesn’t mention the words “God” or “Lord” even one time. In contrast, the GOP platform mentions God 12 times. A simple comparison to past years’ platforms shows a disparity. In 2008, the Democrats had only one mention (the aforementioned ”God-given”), but in 2004, God was mentioned seven times.

What do you expect from someone that had 2 hours of Islamic prayer before the convention started.

Here is an idea.

Try reading the 2012 National Democratic Platform yourself to see if what is said in the OP is true.

hi Dodo David, it is good to see that you are using hyperlinks.
Did you ever get the link to the real Obama Birth certificate and the real Obama Social Security Number that he gave years ago? I'll wait.

Our nation as a whole has turned our backs on God.

We've allowed prayer to be taken away!
Ten Commandment dismounted!
Constitution to be disregarded!
Etc.!

Seems that most Americans today are only followers...

The godless ones are looking for someone to worship and adore.
No matter what his/her politics.

If he claims their littlest cause, if he appears to have a new vision...any vision...if he has the skill to lead...then they will follow!

Follow where?

Oh, and if he makes their leg tingle...then without a doubt...he's got to be the ONE.

IMO

Wow! You really have misinterpreted things.

Have you ever heard of See You at the Pole?

The only thing that has been "taken away" is government-sponsored prayers.

In case you haven't noticed, the U.S. Constitution does not allow any government body in the USA to favor one faith over others.

Yes I've heard of "SYATP"

A short time ago public prayer was attacked and serious complaint was made against the use of it to the discouragement of those of the Christian faith.
These attacks served as scars and created a virtual deterrance for many believers.
Causing many to be reluctant to exercise their right to do so even though the environment was no longer a threat.

So yes, in some circles the threat still looms.
Both sides are still uncertain of the given right or its permanence.

Also...

There seems to have been a consensus that there is a Creator-God
by the collective signers of the Declaration of Independence.

This nation was founded on Christion principles and it is a huge part of our history. People need to get over their attacks on religion and sueing to have religion removed from our society.

A convention has many things happening besides the speeches that get televised

there has been morning prayers EACH DAY of the convention as well as an invocation at TWC Arena by a Bishop

....its not the place of POLITICS to push religion, or to hinder it

I mean come on you cant say the pledge in school because it has the word god in it! Schools can't celebrate holidays or have Christmas Tree's. People can't even say Merry Christmas anymore and that is just WRONG!

The pledge was one of my favorite things in school! Religion is a big part of our society and there is nothing wrong with it (and I am not a religious person). These are just people that want to cause drama and contraversy and like to hurt other people and what they hold dear to them. If they don't like our history or religion offends them then they should move to another country and try and pull this crap there. I would oay to see them try this kinda of think in the Middle East! They would all be executed!

I used to feel that way, but you know what. Being on the other side of it with the 'homosexual' issue, I now understand and sympathize with the non religious who dont wish to be 'bombarded' with others beliefs

I guess my feeling of being 'forced' to accept and support something, feels just as crummy if that something is religion.

How about we put the pledge back in school and say one nation under G.O.D. then you can let it be what you want. God of Divinity, Good Old Dictator, just whatever. Lol

Prayer has been taken away from you? You've lost the ability to pray? When did that happen?

God is back in the Democratic Party platform.

The issue has been resolved.

(CNN) - Democrats voted to update their party's platform Wednesday evening at their convention to include a reference to Jerusalem being the capital of Israel, as well as the insertion of the word "God," neither of which was included in their platform this year but was in previous platforms.

Apparently, the previous deletions took President Obama by surprise.

I suspect that the majority of Democratic Party delegates had not noticed the deletions when they voted to approve their platform.

Me, too. When I was a student of a public high school, I was able to pray in school during my free time.

Besides, when Jesus talked about prayer, he said that people should pray in the privacy of their homes, not out in public where their alleged piety could be seen. The annual "See You at the Pole" rally is a way for God-fearing students to see that they are not the only God-fearing students in their school.

There was a bible study group that met after school at my public high school. I've heard about the same kind of things recently, too.

I would imagine that someone could go out anywhere and pray without having an issue. Now, if they tried to get others involved, or were obnoxious about it for some reason, I could see there being issues. But praying on your own? How can that be stopped?
