Back away from your project for a while. Stop chasing for a bit and let IT come to you.

Me being a musician, when I hit a dry spell, I have a specific pandora station that plays ALL music, not just the type I listen to and not the type I normally play. You would be surprised what type of inspiration you get when you are looking at your project through different eyes.

(or in my case, listening to your project through different ears)

Hope it helps. :)

Check your purse. That's where I usually find mine.

i know zero artists.
well my brother paints but he's not around.
i just wait til i'm on a high.
you'll need a mental disorder of sorts for this method to work.

You need a lubricant.

Some known lubricants to oil the stuck wheels from turning:

1. Love. Falling in love.

2. Inspiration.

3. Coffee.

4. For painters, particularly, absynthe.

5. For musicians, acid and LSD.

6. For writers, a good night's sleep and having done the laundry and knowingly so.

7. For actors, a contract.

8. For dancers, the hope of having Rudolph Nureyev or Karen Kaine come up to stage and stuff a hundred dollar bill in the leotard or moo-moo.

9. For singers, a slap on the face and being showered with cold water, while yelling at them, "baby, you're on stage in ten minutes!!" The first time this was tested and found to work was with Leon Cavallo in a double-blind test with Ray Charles and Charles D'Aznavour.

10. For choreographers of sex movies and for documentary writers, a good sense of what reality is for other, normal people.

I am not an artist, I make models, and sometimes I find tackling something more simple can help, leaving the more creative and difficult until later, it gives me the motivation.

Nothing inspires an artist more than a broken heart. If that's not possible then I count on the pen or the brush instead of the mind to do the work for me.

you'll need a mental disorder of sorts for this method to work.

In that case, I'm an artist (or so people keep telling me).
