Some guys are shy even if they are interested. That's why it is good to let them know you are interested as well. You can tell if a guy is flirting. He could be testing the waters though and fear rejection. Yeah, I get testing the waters. That's normal. We all do that. But, of you respond positively and they do nothing, they're just flirting in the forums. Which is fine. Its all good. Flirting in the forums is fun though, it's like no harm no foul.

Sometimes it is not the fear of rejection why a guy won't make a move. Sometimes he has decided it isn't worth it anymore and he'll be alone anyway, so why try? A self-fulfilling prophecy.

That is tragic in my opinion. Sure people shut down, but you would think after a certain amount of time they would regain confidence in themselves and people.

First, just be a friend. Don't try to rush things. If you've known this person for a while, then just talk to them one day when it's just you two and explain your feelings to each other. One thing I wouldn't do is try to be someone you're not; be real. Girls love it when you're being honest and not putting on a act. Speak from your heart. Really open up and let that person know exactly how you feel.
