Clearly some people are not seeking a greater understanding and prefer to argue every little point. It is getting rather tiresome.

I agree, especially when it is specualitve and conjectural.

I LOVE these Iran vs Israel comparisons!!
There have been a number of these threads before...

1. Israel - Free press democratic society protects rights of all citizens with laws enacted and enforced for all Israeli men, women and
children. Only country in the region with these protections.
Complete protected freedom of religion for Christians, Muslims, Jews
and all other religions too - in Israel.

Now for Iran:

Introduction

The U.S. State Department considers Iran the world's "most active state sponsor of terrorism." U.S. officials say Iran provides funding, weapons, training, and sanctuary to numerous terrorist groups--most notably in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Lebanon--posing a security concern to the international community. Iran's declarations that it has successfully enriched uranium and developed new missile technology have heightened alarm in the United States and other countries that the Islamic Republic might transfer weapons of mass destruction (PDF) to militants or armed groups. Iran's leaders, who deny allegations they support terrorism (DerSpiegel), assert their rights under an international treaty to pursue nuclear power and insist their efforts are for peaceful purposes. But the international community remains unconvinced, imposing a growing list of sanctions against Tehran. Financial pressure has been applied by the UN Security Council, the European Union, international financial bodies, and a number of individual countries, including the United States.

Does Iran sponsor terrorism?

The United States has accused Iran of sponsoring terrorist organizations for decades, but in the post-9/11 era, the allegations have taken on added significance. Despite Iran's assistance following the U.S.-led campaign to oust the Taliban from Afghanistan, Iran was labeled part of an axis of evil--which also included Iraq and North Korea--by President George W. Bush in 2002. In March 2006, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said, "Iran has been the country that has been in many ways a kind of central banker for terrorism in important regions like Lebanon through Hezbollah in the Middle East, in the Palestinian Territories, and we have deep concerns about what Iran is doing in the south of Iraq." For these reasons, in October 2007 the United States added Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to its list of foreign terrorist organizations, and has continued to link economic sanctions to alleged support for militants. In June 2010, the UN Security Council approved a fourth round of sanctions, expanding on its list of targeted Iranian entities--including members of the IRGC.

So if Israel is such a great country why do they refuse to join Iran and the rest of the civilized world in signing the nuclear non proliferation treaty?

Pakistan and India refused to sign it too, but i don't see you going off on a wild tangent on them ...
Did they attempt to sell atomic bombs to South Africa?
Are they demanding we Bomb Iran "just in case"?

are you saying they haven't tried to sell any to anyone? they would have nuked each other a long time ago if it wasn't for the US and Russia... they hate each other as much as iran and Israel...and they went through the same type thing in the 70's... and what does south africa have anything to do with anything?
The reality is this.

Israel attempted to sell atomic weapons to South Africa and refuses to sign the non proliferation treaty and is trying to drag us into a war with Iran. The case is being made that Israel is not what they make themselves out to be or what others attempt to make them.

Cognitive dissonance is the term used in modern psychology to describe the discomfort felt by a person seeking to hold two or more conflicting cognitions (e.g., ideas, beliefs, values, emotional reactions) simultaneously. In a state of dissonance, people may feel surprise, dread, guilt, anger, or embarrassment.[1] The theory of cognitive dissonance in social psychology proposes that people have a motivational drive to reduce dissonance by altering existing cognitions, adding new ones to create a consistent belief system, or alternatively by reducing the importance of any one of the dissonant elements.[1] An example of this would be the conflict between wanting to smoke and knowing that smoking is unhealthy; a person may try to change their feelings about the odds that they will actually suffer the consequences, or they might add the consonant element that the smoking is worth short term benefits. A general view of cognitive dissonance is when one is biased towards a certain decision even though other factors favour an alternative.[2]

As has been pointed out repeatedly, there is no evidence that Israel
ever made any deal to provide nuclear weapons to South Africa.
The "evidence" is a third party report of a conversation which makes
no mention of nuclear anything!

No evidence = No argument.

laugh

Israel never signed the NPT. They did not want to refute or
acknowledge anything about their nuclear activities which had been
going on already for 20 years when the NPT was created. They simply do not wish to claim to be a nuclear capable state or a nuclear free state.

Iran on the other hand has declared themselves to be a nuclear arms
free state and has committed to never seeking to acquire nuclear
weapons in order to get access to nuclear technologies and
assistance. But Iran has violated their NPT commitments, is
threatening to annihilate the United States and Israel, is
vigorously trying to enrich uranium in fortified underground
bunkers to high enrichment weapons grade, and is a Holocaust
denying radical Islamic terrorist supporting state.

This is why NOBODY wants Iran to continue their nuclear programs and
why Iran will be stopped by force if they fail to heed the sincere
and urgent warnings from the rest of the civilized world to desist.

Iran could stop all the sanctions against them today by dismantling all their nuclear weapons related facilities and ceasing their nuclear
weapons related activities and allowing UN inspectors to verify it.

Nothing but false innuendo! Makes anyone who claims this to be
evidence look silly!

rofl

1. Memo shows South African interest in nukes on Jericho missiles.
So, they had interest. That does not mean Israel supplied them. They did not.

2. Front page of 3rd ISSA minutes says nothing about what was discussed or even if the meeting was canceled or not.

3. Later excerpt from ISSA minutes says there are weapons in three sizes. No mention of which weapons and certainly no indication of nuclear anything. Not obvious if minutes are accurate there are a lot of cross outs and notes. Israel does say they might supply tanks.

4. Agreement to keep talks private. Woop de doo. Every country who
ever talked to any other country has such an agreement.

laugh

5. Nice diplomatic note from Peres to South Africa in the '70s saying that the two countries share a common interest in peace and working against injustice. Nothing but the usual diplomatic niceties. Big Deal.

There is NOTHING in this garbage-trove of diplomatic fluff that
in any way implies Israel had any agreement every to supply South
Africa with nuclear weapons.

Nothin Nada.

There have been a number of these threads before...

In June 2010, the UN Security Council approved a fourth round of sanctions, expanding on its list of targeted Iranian entities--including members of the IRGC.

Iran could stop all the sanctions against them today by dismantling
all their nuclear weapons related facilities and ceasing their nuclear
weapons related activities and allowing UN inspectors to verify it.

I think Iran would comply allot better If Israel would also allow inspectors in and disband its nuclear program.

Lets be fair about it.
