I find your high school civics class version if MY government to be amusing.

Can you please explain that in English? I find your complete lack of understanding of my intent annoying.

Exactly what information is being manipulated? Has this country not created or instigated or fabricated more reasons to go to war than any other country in modern times?

I'm sorry, but I explained that in an earlier post you didn't respond to.
I don't buy your explanation its totally absurd.

Besides my country is the one paying for each and every disaster we rain down upon the world what interest does an Australian have in defending these absurd wars?

No doubt about it though america leads the world in creativity when it comes to an excuse to start a war.

I'm not interested in your emotional opinion. I'm using this as an example of information manipulation in media studies, why is that so difficult for you to understand? I could explain it in depth, but experience has shown me that it would be a wasted effort.

What The Media Wants You To Forget

he corporate media have been given their orders to throw the focus back on to Iran.

Here is a recap of what they are trying to make you forget.

1. Last Spring, Rose Gottemoeller, an assistant secretary of state and Washington's chief nuclear arms negotiator, asked Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Israel refused.

2. The United Nations passed a resolution calling on Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and to submit to inspections. Israel refused.

3. The IAEA asked Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and to submit to inspections. Israel refused.

4. Iran's formal notification to the IAEA of the planned construction of the backup fuel-rod facility underscores that Iran is playing by the rules of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty which Iran has signed.

5. Iran allows IAEA inspections of all its facilities.

6. Contrary to face-saving claims, it appears that the US and Israel were both caught off guard by Iran's announcement of a planned underground (to avoid being bombed) enrichment facility. The reasoning is simple. Had the US or Israel announced the existence of he new facility before Iran's notified the IAEA, it would have put Iran on the defensive. As it is now, the US and Israel seem to be playing catch up, casting doubt on the veracity of Israel's claims to "know" that Iran is a nuclear threat.

7. The IAEA and all 16 United States Intelligence Agencies are unanimous in agreement that Iran is not building and does not possess nuclear weapons.

8. In 1986, Mordachai Vanunu blew the whistle and provided photographs showing Israel's clandestine nuclear weapons factory underneath the reactor at Dimona.

9. Israel made the same accusations against Iraq that it is making against Iran, leading up to Israel's bombing of the power station at Osirik. Following the invasion of 2003, international experts examined the ruins of the power station at Osirik and found no evidence of a clandestine weapons factory in the rubble.

10. The United Nations has just released the Goldstone Report, a scathing report which accuses Israel of 37 specific war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza earlier this year. Israel has denounced the report as "Anti-Semitic (even though Judge Goldstone is himself Jewish), and the United States will block the report from being referred to the War Crimes Tribunal at the Hague, thereby making the US Government an accessory after-the-fact.

11. Recently revealed documents prove not only that Israel has nuclear weapos, but actually tried to sell some to Apartheid South Africa. Who else Israel approached to sell nuclear weapons remains an unasked question.

12. In 1965, Israel stole over 200-600 pounds of weapons-grade uranium from the United States.

13. Declassified documents from the former South African regime prove not only that
Israel has had nuclear weapons for decades, but has tried to sell them to other countries!

We all need to be Joe Wilson right now. We need to stand up and scream, "LIAR!" at every politician and every talking media moron that is pushing this war in Iran. And we need to keep dong it until they get the message that we will not be deceived any more.

Israel wants to send your kids off to die in Iran, and YOU are the only one that can stop them.

I LOVE these Iran vs Israel comparisons!!
There have been a number of these threads before...

1. Israel - Free press democratic society protects rights of all citizens with laws enacted and enforced for all Israeli men, women and
children. Only country in the region with these protections.
Complete protected freedom of religion for Christians, Muslims, Jews
and all other religions too - in Israel.

Now for Iran:

Introduction

The U.S. State Department considers Iran the world's "most active state sponsor of terrorism." U.S. officials say Iran provides funding, weapons, training, and sanctuary to numerous terrorist groups--most notably in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Lebanon--posing a security concern to the international community. Iran's declarations that it has successfully enriched uranium and developed new missile technology have heightened alarm in the United States and other countries that the Islamic Republic might transfer weapons of mass destruction (PDF) to militants or armed groups. Iran's leaders, who deny allegations they support terrorism (DerSpiegel), assert their rights under an international treaty to pursue nuclear power and insist their efforts are for peaceful purposes. But the international community remains unconvinced, imposing a growing list of sanctions against Tehran. Financial pressure has been applied by the UN Security Council, the European Union, international financial bodies, and a number of individual countries, including the United States.

Does Iran sponsor terrorism?

The United States has accused Iran of sponsoring terrorist organizations for decades, but in the post-9/11 era, the allegations have taken on added significance. Despite Iran's assistance following the U.S.-led campaign to oust the Taliban from Afghanistan, Iran was labeled part of an axis of evil--which also included Iraq and North Korea--by President George W. Bush in 2002. In March 2006, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said, "Iran has been the country that has been in many ways a kind of central banker for terrorism in important regions like Lebanon through Hezbollah in the Middle East, in the Palestinian Territories, and we have deep concerns about what Iran is doing in the south of Iraq." For these reasons, in October 2007 the United States added Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to its list of foreign terrorist organizations, and has continued to link economic sanctions to alleged support for militants. In June 2010, the UN Security Council approved a fourth round of sanctions, expanding on its list of targeted Iranian entities--including members of the IRGC.

Israel never needed to sign the NPT with their nuclear
program apparently and they have very limited facilities and have
never threatened anyone with nuclear attacks.

They did not sign the NPT because it was not relevant to them.

Iran DID sign the agreement to get access and assistance to limited
peaceful nuclear technology but they VIOLATED their agreement and
Iran DOES threaten the United States and Israel with public chants of
"Death to the United States" and "Death to Israel" while a the same
time in open violation of their sworn agreements they work feverishly
at developing high purity nuclear armament grade uranium and
intercontinental ballistic missile capability. They are a
radical Islamic theocracy which views all other nations in the
world not following their particularly virulent and violent brand
of radical Islam as enemies of Islam.

That is why everybody wants Iran to stop their nuclear arms
development activities completely, immediately and verifiably.

I speak the truth and support my positions with real evidence

I defend those who are attacked and their right to protect

We are correct in my opinion here in the United States to try to
counter proactively future terrorist attacks like those
on the World Trade Center. Israel has the same responsibility and
right to protect Israeli citizens from attacks by Hamas, Hezbollah,
Islamic Jihad and Iran.

I have no agenda. Let everyone decide for themselves.

I simply abhor terrorism and respect Israel's right to self defense
and will not tolerate any lame excuses for deliberate attacks on

So if Israel is such a great country why do they refuse to join Iran and the rest of the civilized world in signing the nuclear non proliferation treaty?

Israel never needed to sign the NPT with their nuclear
program apparently and they have very limited facilities and have
never threatened anyone with nuclear attacks.

They did not sign the NPT because it was not relevant to them.

Iran DID sign the agreement to get access and assistance to limited
peaceful nuclear technology but they VIOLATED their agreement and
Iran DOES threaten the United States and Israel with public chants of
"Death to the United States" and "Death to Israel" while a the same
time in open violation of their sworn agreements they work feverishly

As slow hand already knows Israel has refused to sigh the non proliferation treaty and submit to inspections.

I have already mentioned many times how Israel tried to sell atomic weapons to apartheid South Africa. What type of country would sell atomic weapons to that horrible regime?

Read about it here.

Secret South African documents reveal that Israel offered to sell nuclear warheads to the apartheid regime, providing the first official documentary evidence of the state's possession of nuclear weapons.

The "top secret" minutes of meetings between senior officials from the two countries in 1975 show that South Africa's defence minister, PW Botha, asked for the warheads and Shimon Peres, then Israel's defence minister and now its president, responded by offering them "in three sizes". The two men also signed a broad-ranging agreement governing military ties between the two countries that included a clause declaring that "the very existence of this agreement" was to remain secret.

The documents, uncovered by an American academic, Sasha Polakow-Suransky, in research for a book on the close relationship between the two countries, provide evidence that Israel has nuclear weapons despite its policy of "ambiguity" in neither confirming nor denying their existence.

The Israeli authorities tried to stop South Africa's post-apartheid government declassifying the documents at Polakow-Suransky's request and the revelations will be an embarrassment, particularly as this week's nuclear non-proliferation talks in New York focus on the Middle East.

They will also undermine Israel's attempts to suggest that, if it has nuclear weapons, it is a "responsible" power that would not misuse them, whereas countries such as Iran cannot be trusted.

Here is what the Israelis said about the report originally:

"There exists no basis in reality for the claims published this morning by The Guardian that in 1975 Israel negotiated with South Africa the exchange of nuclear weapons," the president's office said in a statement.

"Unfortunately, The Guardian elected to write its piece based on the selective interpretation of South African documents and not on concrete facts," said the statement. "Israel has never negotiated the exchange of nuclear weapons with South Africa. "There exists no Israeli document or Israeli signature on a document that such negotiations took place."

Clearly some people are not seeking a greater understanding and prefer to argue every little point. It is getting rather tiresome.

The fact Israel tried to sell atomic weapons to apartheid South Africa is not in dispute by anyone who cares to take the topic seriously.

Here is the ABC news report on it.

srael has never confirmed it has nuclear weapons despite a large amount of evidence that it has as many as 200 warheads.

The documents provide the first proof Israel not only has enough nuclear weapons for its own defence but has enough to sell elsewhere.

Like India, Pakistan and North Korea, Israel is not a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

In the 1980s, Mordechai Vanunu, a former technician who worked at Israel's main nuclear facility, revealed the extent of the country's arsenal.

Four years ago, former prime minister Ehud Olmert accidentally acknowledged the country's nuclear capability on German television.

And now an American academic, Sacha Polokow-Suransky, has unearthed documents which appear to indicate Israel offered to sell South Africa nuclear weapons during the era of apartheid.

The deal between Israel and South Africa did not proceed. But questions remain as to whether Israel helped South Africa develop nuclear weapons later on.

Dr Gil Merom, an international security expert from Sydney University, says Israel looked for alliances all over the world.

"Israel looked for any possible alliance and any possible support so South Africa could deliver to Israel mostly, I think, resources of the type of raw uranium," he said.

The claims come as 190 nations are meeting in New York at the Nuclear Non-proliferation Review Treaty.

Experts say they are likely to add more pressure on Israel to declare itself a nuclear power.

Dr Andrew Davies, an expert on nuclear issues from the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, says the news is unlikely to surprise anyone.

"Being found out as being a proliferator never helps anybody's case for taking the higher moral ground on nuclear weapons," he said.

In June 2010, the UN Security Council approved a fourth round of sanctions, expanding on its list of targeted Iranian entities--including members of the IRGC.

But it is fun and educational to examine the very real differences
between Iran and Israel. It is a comparison which always casts Israel
in the best possible light!

So if Israel is such a great country why do they refuse to join Iran and the rest of the civilized world in signing the nuclear non proliferation treaty?

Pakistan and India refused to sign it too, but i don't see you going off on a wild tangent on them ...
Did they attempt to sell atomic bombs to South Africa?
Are they demanding we Bomb Iran "just in case"?

In June 2010, the UN Security Council approved a fourth round of sanctions, expanding on its list of targeted Iranian entities--including members of the IRGC.

are you saying they haven't tried to sell any to anyone? they would have nuked each other a long time ago if it wasn't for the US and Russia... they hate each other as much as iran and Israel...and they went through the same type thing in the 70's... and what does south africa have anything to do with anything?
